Lingering over pain au chocolat in a sidewalk café, relaxing after a day of strolling along the Seine and marveling at icons like the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe… the perfect Paris experience combines leisure and liveliness with enough time to savor both an exquisite meal and exhibits at the Louvre. Awaken your spirit at Notre Dame, bargain hunt at the Marché aux Puces de Montreuil or for goodies at the Marché Biologique Raspail, then cap it all off with a risqué show at the Moulin Rouge.

Before the start of the transport strike on 5 Dec we took the opportunity to visit the twice weekly fresh market in the 18th arrondissement, just off the metro station at Barbes. This market is also known as the Arab market due to the demographic of the neighbourhood. Wow! the produce! The prices! Incredible. Weighed down with multiples of everything (2 pineapples for €2!) we jumped back on the metro within the 2 hour window - so a free ride home.

Marche Saint Quentin is a wonderful marketplace in the 10th. It has everything, from flowers, to meat, to fish, to cheese. It's great just to walk around and take everything in!
