The Pinnacle

Reviewed By daisyferret1 - Bear, United States

We have seen the Pinnacle being built during our annual treks down I-81. A couple of years ago we saw it really taking form as it sits up off the interstate as we pass by. Last year we decided to stop in Bristol, but never made it over to the Pinnacle, despite it being a stones throw from our hotel. This year, we again stopped in Bristol overnight. Since we checked in early & our hotel was located just across the interstate from the Pinnacle (an literally just a few minutes drive), we decided to drive over to see what all there was to see and do at the Pinnacle. Entertainment: Entering the Pinnacle complex, one of the first things I noticed was the Just Jump Trampoline park. I also noticed a Marquee 12 cinema at the back of Pinnacle Parkway. Also in the back of the complex is a Bass Pro Shops that houses a mini bowling alley called Uncle Bucks Fish Bowl & Grill. They had maybe 3 mini bowling lanes that was fish themed. It looked really cute! In addition we discovered a beautiful little park, Pinnacle Park, at the base of the cinema and adjacent to the Bass Pro Shops. You can see the fountain that is at the center of the park from I-81! We did spend some time in Pinnacle Park while we visited. It is basically a paved loop path that runs around a lake with a fountain at the center of the lake. The fountain and waterfall here were beautiful. We enjoyed watching people fish and ducks swim around Pinnacle Lake. We read a sign that said that the lake is stocked with various fresh water fish. There were several entrances to this little park from Pinnacle Parkway (2 across the the Cinemas and one next to Bass Pro). Shops: We did NOT do much shopping while at the Pinnacle. However, we noticed that there were several clusters of shops arranged throughout the Pinncale. It reminded me of outlet shopping in terms of layout. Perhaps one might say it was bigger strip malls that dotted Pinnacle Parkway. There was the Main Pinnacle Shops, the Crescent Shops at the Pinnacle and the Tower Shops at the Pinnacle. Some of the shops included Marshalls, Belk, Party City, Dick's sporting Good, Michaels, American Eagle, Rue 21, Bath & Body Works, Gap, Pier 1, Justice, Old Navy, Rack Room Shoes, Carter's Osh Kosh, Zales, Yankee Candle, Hallmark and Bass Pro Shops. There are MANY more in addition to these well known shops. There was also a pretty large Carmax on Pinnacle Parkway too. The only shop that we actually went into was the Bass Pro Shops at the top of the hill. Here we went to see the LARGE Educational fish aquarium at the back of the store. They do have posted fish feeding times (Tues/Thurs at 6pm & Sat 2pm) IF you want to try to catch one of those with the kids. Since we were in the Bass Pro, we decided to take a peek at Uncle Bucks (attached restaurant and bowling alley) out of curiosity. Prices for bowling seemed a little high, so we moved on. Overall, it was a very nice Bass Pro, but probably NOT as large at the Outdoor World that we are used to down in the Smokies. Dining: We did NOT plan on dining here as we were headed over to the Drive-In across town & had plans to dine out that way. However, I did notice that there were TONS of places to choose from to eat including fast food and sit-down dining establishments. Some of the places that we noticed included Panda Express, McDonalds, Outback, Drake's, Chick-Fil-A, Zaxby's, Steak n' Shake, Moe's Southwest, La Carreta, BurgerIM, Johnny Bruscos's NY Pizza, Aubrey's, Great American Cookies, Starbucks & Uncle Bucks Fish Bowl and Grill. The one that stood out to me the most was probably Drake's since it had a neat design where there were opening in the walls that allowed us to see into the restaurant even from Pinnacle Parkway. It gave the impression that it would be a FUN place to dine. Overall, we had a good time over at the Pinnacle. We probably spent about an hour here between the Bass Pro Shops and Pinnacle Park. I think it is a nice little complex that really adds some beauty and fun to Bristol. It is close to I-81, so it is a perfect place for traveler's to stop, stretch the legs, use the restroom and grab a bite to eat. I would recommend for Pinnacle Park alone! I'm sure we will be back.

Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World

Reviewed By mrstamil

We're in Bristol for a few days and stopped by to see what all the hype was about with Bass Pro. Wow! Sporting goods, snacks, giant fish tank (with feedings), bowling alley, DELICIOUS food (try the boneless wings OR the BBQ), and decorations galore. Wish we had these in NY.
