As a child my wife came here every year with her family. When our children were growing up we would always visit here to play on the beach. These days my wife and I always visit to enjoy the big waves! Green Bay is a sandy beach at the end of a narrow inlet bounded by large granite rock formations. There is a good access path around the Bay and a little climb down to the beach. On a fine day it is a great place for small children to play. On a stormy day the waves roll in sending up clouds of spray, making a fine spectacle. To get there you can park the car nearby on The Esplanade, or walk around the coastal path from Horseshoe Bay or Boomer Beach. Green Bay is worth seeing in any of its moods.

South Australians for the past approx. 150 years’ have been visiting and appreciating Granite Island and now people from the world over make the effort to visit. This walk has the most idyllic outlooks all over the island and the views of the Southern Ocean just make you feel alive. A bonus is the gentle cardio workout being healthy, combined with the clean pure air about you.

Went Bashams Beach after being told of recent whale sightings and we weren’t disappointed, saw a mother and calf from the viewing platform for quite a long time, although they were a long way off it was a great moment in my life.
