From the Hotel Del, down Orange Avenue (until hitting the large green expanse of park) is the heart of Coronado's Downtown stretch. The architecture is an eclectic mix of Art Deco and quirky store fronts as well as little holes in the wall (like High Tide Bottle shop that makes he BEST pizza in all of Coronado!) are a visual treat. Think ice cream for the eye balls, that is how fun it is! In the general area can be found Baum's historic home where some of the Oz books were written (a must-see to walk by as these people living here have a sense of humor) and there is also a round-about monument to military sacrifices, lovely old homes, and all the vitality of a lively downtown area.

We found it delightful to stroll along this quiet promenade. There is a small park that was established in 2005 and a City of Coronado Community Playhouse. There are also markers displaying the history of the Coronado area. Easy parking
