It you want to see gators in the wild, this is the place to go. Take a Black Hammock airboat your, and you will see gators. A early morning car ride over the lake, and you will think there are a lot of logs out in the lake. But it is just alligators floating in the lake.

Black Bear Wilderness Area

We ilve about 15 minutes away from this area and just recently discovered it....and it is truly a treasure. Although there are roots and sometimes uneven ground, the trail is relatively easy for anyone who can walk 7.1 miles. Suggest that you wear hiking shoes or at least good tennis shoes to avoid twisting an ankle or bruising a toe. I saw one man biking the trail which would be fun except there were several areas where you would have to walk the bike around big tree roos that had quite a slope to them. We saw lots of birds, gators and beautiful views of the St. Johns River. Be sure to take plenty of water as there would be none available on the trail. The trail is well marked and has signs marking off every 1/2 mile. It is a nice 7.1 mile loop. I wouldn't recommend this trail in the middle of the summer but then I don't recommend much outdoors in Florida in the summer unless it involves the water. If you want to see the real Florida enjoy nature for free.....try the Black Bear Wilderness area.

Definitely worth visiting if you’re vacationing into near Orlando! They have an interactive section where you can feed goats, lamas, Alpacas, donkeys, I strongly recommend!! You can also feed a giraffe or rhino. They have different shows as well with different animals. Theres a BBQ spot on site. And most importantly make sure to stop by the Seminal outdoor adventure which is right inside of the zoo at the beginning, they have tree trek including zip line. Crystal and Maggie made the whole experience so much more worth it. They were very patient and encouraging and stayed with us the whole time! The overall experience is worth the price!
