The 8 Best Nature & Parks in Khao Lak, Phang Nga Province

November 11, 2021 Leida Jutras

Just 80 kilometers north of Phuket, Khao Lak was essentially erased by the 2004 tsunami. But the town, and the tourist industry it relies on, has rebounded. It remains quieter than other coastal destinations, offering secluded beaches, tranquil nights and family-oriented activities. You want full moon parties and besotted nights? You’re out of luck. But if you’re looking for unparalleled scuba diving in the Similan Islands, you’ve hit the jackpot.

Even in July - which can probably be classed as wet season, the beach was fantastic. The beach was incredibly clean and peaceful. Definitely worth a visit - we stayed at Mai Resort - which provided walking access to the beach.

Ton Chong Fa Waterfall

Reviewed By Moiwouam - Shanghai, China

Amazing! It is a unique experience to swim (or just put your feet into the fresh water if you are afraid of cold) amongst the fishes eating your dead skin. Whatever you like the feeling or not, it is definitely something to try! The waterfalls were good enough, with still plenty of water in December. We spent 3 hours there as we swam a lot, 2 hours would be enough if you just walk and bath your feet. Note that one person in our group got a leech (apparently from the ground, not from the water), but we removed it easily. There was not a single mosquito which was a very good surprise for this kind of wet forest. As many people advised, take good shoes, the path after the level 1 is quite difficult, but I would still recommend the visit even if you just stop there.

Beautiful little spot. Bring your water shoes as the rocks can be sharp and slippery. Water is a bit cold in February, but still refreshing.

Orchid Garden Khaolak

Reviewed By Bearessa - Khao Lak, Thailand

I love this place,we visit every year and you can definately see the changes being made by the owner On paying for admission to the orchid garden 350bht, you also get admission to the butterfly garden, this year sees more butterflys that ever before she breeds them in their cocoons in glass containers which shows good results The orchids are amazing she grows them in sterile conditions from seed, there are all different species and she is HAPPY to help you name the species if you are interested in orchids, this year she is trying to grow them naturally attached to trees You can even buy flasked orchids for 300bht which seem quite popular as a keepsake for the visitors Definately worth a couple of hours visiting, the garden is opposite the petrol station
