See wildlife in a sustainable way: the professional guides can show you the cranes, and your fee will help support the local village. Learn to cook with the locals, or learn traditional weaving and bring home a souvenir we make together. Explore the villages by bicycle, relax, and see how people and nature are living together for the future in Cambodia.
So incredibly privileged to have been the first tourist of the season to see the sarus crane arrive to their feeding grounds. After being told they hadn’t arrived yet in previous emails, the amazing team at the Anlung Pring emailed with such excitement to say they arrived as we were emailing! So a quick dash out on the motorbike to see the world's tallest flying bird, a dozen other wetland bird species and the beautiful wetlands they all feed in. If you ever get to Kampot, Cambodia get down and check out this amazing community based conservation project. It was so beautiful to see Boona, his wife, the rangers and the entire community so excited to see” their friends” the Sarus cranes return. Check out mekongcrane.com. The center is incredibly easy to find! It is accurate on google maps, took me 1 hour by scooter, and it well sign posted the entire way. Look out for the signs in the pictures with this review. I went on my own, and spent a few horus there, however I would recommend booking a full day tour, or even the overnight home stay which can be seen on the website. My day was very spontaneous and based on the cranes literally arriving at the same time I got there. Check it out and support this amazing local project!

If you don't have your own motorcycle, hire a big bike for $4 on the Old Market Street with under-seat storage. Take an emergency bottle of gas, a thin sweater, or at least an extra, long-sleeved layer, which you'll need as you go up this 1km-high mountain. One side, going from Kampot town up to the big Buddha, has various tall tree and rock formations. The other side, coming toward Bokor Hill Station and toward the direction of Sihanoukville, has waterfalls, rivers and the feel of moors and shrubs. You don't want to be wandering around there after dark, so get started early or else sleep at the inn for $5, or even pre-plan and make a romantic getaway for over $200. (Search Bokor National Park on Booking for the expensive hotels). The single driving route from the entrance of Bokor National Park to the summit is very well-kept, and wide enough for the maintenance trucks that you might see going up and down, so no worries about safety. (Don't walk...it takes 1 hr nonstop up to the giant Buddha and King Sihanouk's now disused Black Palace on a powerful moto.) FILL YOUR TANK BEFORE YOU GO. It takes almost a full tank of gas to get to the top. There are little stalls near the big Buddha that llook like those roadside stalls selling cheap Cambodian snacks in plastic.THEY SELL GAS - at twice the price, but there's no where else to buy it up there. There's no gas on display. You have to ask. This is a gorgeous route, definitely worth a day-trip.

We went expecting to see caves and the temple in them.. but it was so much more! A fun adventure sliding and squeezing through the caves! And bats inside was nice to see! Wear proper shoes and expect to get dirty. It was loads of fun!

Ghost town. A very strange place, you see houses that are completely empty. Pristine. You need a scooter or tuk tuk to get between the various buildings in the large national park
