The 8 Best Movie Theaters in Sheffield, England

June 28, 2021 Lean Nau

Sheffield, located in South Yorkshire, England, is both a major industrial city and one of the greenest cities in the UK. TripAdvisor travelers particularly recommend the Sheffield Winter Garden and the Botanical Garden. After dark, you’ll find a lively bar and club scene, a testimony to the town’s large student population.

Film Unit Cinema

Film Unit is the oldest student cinema in the UK, established over 65 years ago and still going strong! We are run entirely by volunteers who work as ushers, fire officers, house managers, projectionists and committee members to bring this unique cinema experience to our customers. We are located in the Nelson Mandela Auditorium inside the University of Sheffield Student's Union, a 300+ seat venue that holds Central Sheffield's largest cinema screen. Watched Start Wars IX here on a wet Saturday afternoon. Comfy seats, cheap prices and great quality picture and sound. Student Union shop nearby so you can get your snacks before you go in. Any downsides? All the students milling around make you feel old!

The Showroom cinema is a city gem and offers a haven of rest and intellectual stimulation in Sheffield. We really like it because it supports independent and foreign films – it also has various foreign language Film Programme – currently the Japan Foundation Touring 2018 features some of the best examples of cinema from Japan. This is the best cinema bargain in town with reductions for those over 60 as well as those under 26, with the CINE26 card described in another posting. The diversity of cinematic choices and proximity to the train station, which enables people to travel there all make for a winning combination.

Went to watch the film 1917, great film with some amazing cinematography. The historical accuracy was impeccable and the attention to detail was mind blowing. How they made the pictures move on the screen I don’t know, it felt like I was transported back to 1918. Good cinema.

Visited here with my daughter to visit the cinema and pizza express. There was a concert on at the arena so it was very busy, but if you park at the rear of the cinema you should find a space. The selection of restaurants is great and with the big cinema and entertainment centre being open it is a really nice place

This cinema is the height of luxury as far as cinemas go, all of the seats recline are spacious with plenty of legroom and a mini table for snacks and drinks. There are nearly always seats available if you want to turn up on the day which is nice. You can also get some good snack deals. My only frustration with these is that the Coca Cola freestyle machine is nearly always out of normal Coca Cola. However, credit goes to the manager for allowing me to have glass bottles of normal Coca Cola instead. If you want a unique experience at a reasonable price then it's definiteltly worth a visit
