A nice and clean resort with well maintained garden and swimming pool. Small wooden houses are available as well as rooms or bigger houses for groups. In the weekends it is frequented by young thai groups who party at the beach. Internet connection is stable and fast all over the resort. The crew is very polite and helpful, breakfast american or thai style, you can order special (two eggs for example...see pictures) which brings you through a sight seeing day until dinner. The rooms are clean and cosy as built from wood, our matress was hard but we got used to it.. About 3 mins to beach but there are no installments: no chair, no umbrella no nothing. Fine for swim and go back home. The free offered bycycles are old and rusty thus unusable. In walking distance (5 min) you find a market, a big c mini, a 7 eleven and many restaurants. I highly recommend to choose a resort near the traffic roundabout to stay near shops and restaurants: many resorts offer accomodation around there. Most resorts along the coastline towards laem sing are lonely and you will use the car to shop or dinner. Home @ chan is a perfect starting point for all tourist attractions around there: Ao khung kraben mangrove forest, sea farming demonstration, Hua lem pagoda, Wat Pak Nam Khaem Nu (located at the first bridge towards laem sing) which is a must to see. Taking the beach road to Laem Sing crossing the Taksin Maharaj Bridge you can visit the oasis sea world, a funny 1 hour dolphin show or go more far to National Park Phliu Waterfall and go to chantaburi sight seeing. Its all not far and easily to be combined to half day/day trips. Directly at the traffic roundabout is a small street restaurant which offers a perfect steak as well as thai food and a delicious salad buffet (free if you order steak) at more than reasonable prices (see pictures). All in all a nice and relaxing 7 day stay near all attractions - i liked the resort.

I am a seasoned traveller, and rarely do I cancel a booking and as of now have never "not turned up" . Our journey by car 650km with 5 kids and 2 adults was over 12 hours due to traffic mainly. We'd been to 'Chao Lao' beach before and chose the property based upon beds and price. Arriving at 730pm, slightly later than originally planned, we were greeted with a hostile reception with no regard for the kids or our eventual homeless status. She said AS WE DIDN'T SHOW UP she had sold the room, and had messaged me (in Thai and on my UK phone), at 4pm. Arrival time was supposed to be 530pm, and yes we were delayed. I had no regard that this would happen or else would have taken steps to contact them. To make matters worse next day she informed Booking.com that we were a "no show", I suspect so she was not charged the fee. There were NO other hotels that we could find at 830-930pm on a saturday during a holiday weekend. We did eventually find a hotel and paid the 4-day stay amount for the one night getting to bed around 1am!!!! Unscrupulous and uncaring with little regard for customer service or welfare of the kids, I cannot recommend this place.

Overpriced very old ugly resort, do not stay there except if you really have no choice (it means sleeping in the street), but actually even the sand might be better to avoid getting sick ! You can find better rooms around for less than half of the price of this hotel !
