The Mayan Inn opened its doors back in 1932, it was designed from the beginning to be a hotel museum by it's founder Mr. Alfred S. Clark, who patiently started this magnificent collection of Spanish colonial antiques collecting every door, table, chair, bed, chest, trunk, etc. That are today part of the decorations of this magnificent hotel. The Mayan Inn's private collection of paintings are priceless with original master pieces from Humberto Garavito, Alfredo Galvez, Antonio Tejeda, Carmen Pettersen, among others. The hotel is located in the heart of Chichicastenango with in walking distance of the market, church and cemetery.
The hotel is truly a museum, with its furnishings, its’ art, the worn floors, the weathered wood, chopped plaster. The things that matter have been updated—beds, linens, electricity—but much remains the same, as it should. Internet was poor, and I didn’t even care—much. Proximity to the market, dining, cemetery (must see) was excellent.

A large hotel, Hotel Santo Tomas is just around the corner from the main market. We were one of a handful of guests the night we were there. The inner courtyards were beautiful, and the Catholic iconography that covers the interior walls interesting. A flock of parrots and macaws is brought out each day in the courtyards to squawk and speak (in Spanish, of course). Probably because of the lack of guests, the hotel turned off the hot water when we were there, but they were happy to turn it back on upon request. Our “Pandemic Special” (hotel’s term) of $125 for a big room with three beds included breakfast, which we found to be satisfying

Manuel is a great host. Wonderful breakfast & Coffee. Beautiful roof terrace. Extremely clean & confortable bed & room. Great WiFi. Nice hot shower. Hotel cheap, clean, near to the market & Free puriefied water too. Breakfast include : Delicious fresh-squeezed OJ. Homenaje Stawberry Jam. Eggs. Milk. A lot Coffee. And homemade integral bread hot from the oven!
Hotel Chalet is a charming small place away from the crowds of the market, and quiet, but close to it. It is like being in someone's quirky house. Manuel can help happily with anything. Breakfasts are excellent. Our ground floor room with 2 beds was small but adequate, and spotless. Upstairs rooms with double beds had big windows. Hot water and internet worked perfectly. The roof terrace is a plus. We will return if we are lucky.

Courtyard style well located near the central square in Nebaj. The small rooms were in need of some minor repairs (curtain rods, bed frames) but were very clean and felt safe. No heat or hot water but warm blankets for the cold nights. Friendly cats and bunnies in the pretty courtyard. Makes a good base for exploring the fascinating Ixil triangle region. Very close to the Centro Cultural Kumool, but this was closed (by COVID) when we visited. Adequate WiFi.

Hostal de Santa Maria is a new opcion for you, we offer a fully and completely equipped apartments and studios for one, two, three an four people, they have cable tv, parking space, perimeter wall.
This hotel was actually built as an apartment complex, however when the rooms couldn't be rented they started renting them out as hotel rooms. Because of that the rooms are like apartment rooms. Ours was a two bedroom place, with kitchen and dining area. One of the others in our group had a studio apartment-like room. In all cases the rooms were huge, very new, very clean, with all modern amenities. Beautiful bathrooms and showers. These were the cleanest and nicest rooms we stayed at, in all of Guatemala. The two bedroom was $50/400Q per night. It had 3 double beds and 1 bath. We stayed 2 nights. There was free WiFi in the room. Breakfast was not included and was only available Monday thru Saturday. It's a little hard to find this place particularly at night. Tell people it is next to the CDAG building and the Estadio Joyabaj. It's entrance is a huge metal gate with the name of the hotel on the gate. The main downside was that it was far from the town center and any restaurants. We always took a car to the local restaurants. It's probably a minimum of 6 blocks to any restaurant and 12 blocks to the town center. It is however only a couple blocks from the main bus station. If you were staying for any length of time here, this would be the place to stay. We did notice some long term "tourists" here. I would definitely go back.

The owner of this hotel is also the owner of the much nicer Casa Shalom II where I stayed for eight nights. This one is not the prettiest hotel on the block but if you want to be in the noisy center of Nebaj for some reason such as catching a bus to San Jaun Cotzal or Chajul or Acul then it might work for you. It was very inexpensive but reflects the price. The room was very run down and the hotel is in great need of a facelift it looks disheveled lacking paint and with mismatching sheets in the rooms and the night I stayed in October a mouse came in from outside because there was a big gap under the door. I screamed so it went right back the way it came-kind of funny that it entered through the front door, a funny Guatemalan said it came for a "visita." I was not laughing I really do not like mice anywhere near me-love almost all animals but rodents are not among them. The middle aged man who was there to greet me in October was very nice and he showed me where to get the bus to SAn Juan Cotzal, also I have to say despite being right in the center I did sleep well and noise wasn't a problem but Casa Shalom II is SOOOOOOO much nicer and I loved my satay there. For the price and one night this place is ok.

If you’re Looking to stay at an authentic place run by a family, this is the place. Kids and dogs are running around, they have lots of space on the edge of Town. The food was good and plentiful. Nothing special but real guatemalan. Bring earplugs if you want to sleep well, because of the dogs in town and the roosters in the morning.

Hotel Villa Nebaj is a s**t hole no better than a doss house. The local agents who arranged this assured us that although basic it was clean. In fact it is almost squalid. We were so concerned with the standards of hygiene we kept the suitcases closed for fear of bed bugs getting in. We were not even prepared to take breakfast there. The double bed was covered with an inappropriate damp single sheet. There was mould on the walls, thick dust on the bedhead and nowhere to hang anything. There were parts of the tiles that were cracked and missing by the bedside and the bedside lamp had been removed. The staff were unhelpful.
