Columbia is a census-designated place in Howard County, Maryland, United States, and is one of the principal cities of the Baltimore metropolitan area. It is a planned community consisting of 10 self-contained villages. It began with the idea that a city could enhance its residents' quality of life. Creator and developer James W. Rouse saw the new community in terms of human values, rather than merely economics and engineering. Opened in 1967, Columbia was intended to not only eliminate the inconveniences of then-current subdivision design, but also eliminate racial, religious, and class segregation.

Choose your code name, strap on a high-tech suit, enter the huge multi-level arena and prepare for the adventure of a lifetime. Many ways to enjoy an outing to ShadowLand - individually, as a family, with your youth group, with your sports team or scout troop, or as an energetic team building visit with your office. Private events rooms available. Bus tours welcome. The arena is a sensory experience unlike anything you've had before. Specialty lighting, misty fog, astral music, darting laser beams, and the yelps and laughter of players surrounding you. GEMs (specialty hardware mounted throughout the arena) can track and tag you and also act as places to download special powers for your suit to enhance your performance during the adventure - invisibility, invulnerability, rapid fire. At the end every player receives a their scorecard listing all players by code name and outlining their individual performance. Open 7 days a week - stop by soon to take part in your laser adventure.

Earth Treks is the best gym and climbing facility I've even been to. The employees are friendly and the facilities are always clean. The community is pretty nice over all. People generally stay out of each others ways other than when they want to help you.

My 2-yr old (almost 3) grandson absolutely loved every minute we were here. He really didn’t want to leave. We went on Monday, arrived about 15 min after opening. The line was to the door for checkin. The line moved fairly well, but there’s opportunity to improve that process. It is in a business area in the back of the very back building. Parking was an issue and several parked in a sand lot across the street, but that was very limited. There were so many different things for him to do; he was able to enjoy all 3 of the sections (divided by age). While there were a lot of kids there, it really didn’t seem too crowded for the kids to enjoy. No long lines climbing up for the slides or going down. There were trampolines they could jump on, ball pit to slide in, and a couple rides. The staff were attentive and keeping an eye on the kids to help control the chaos to a manageable level. Each adult and child(ren) received matching stamps to “connect” them and they were checked when we left. Signs say no outside food or drink (except water), but they did have snacks available for purchase. Bathroom was clean and the sink at kid-level was appreciated. A few tips: -Complete the waiver online before you arrive (makes check in faster) -Check CertifiKID for discounts to increase the value -Arriving a bit after opening would reduce the wait time for check in (it seemed to thin out around 12:30/1:00 with folks leaving) -There is a picnic table outside. If you want to pack your lunch and enjoy some fresh air to get back to play as soon as possible but still have a good lunch.

We were visiting for the weekend and had a few hours to waste before heading back to the airport to catch our flight. My son had a blast, since it was Sunday afternoon he practically had the place to himself. We did laser tag and the arcade while grandma enjoyed some shopping at the mall. I purchased the $19 special which gave my son an hour to play games -- he had a blast! We didn't get a chance to bowl or try the food area but it certainly looks like a wonderful place to host a birthday party since it has so much for the kids to enjoy. This was our first time visiting a Main Event establishment and I'm sure it will be a regular stop for us when we are in town again on vacation.
