Historically part of Worcestershire and situated on the River Stour, Stourbridge developed during the industrial revolution into a centre of glass making. As of 2018 the town includes the suburbs of Amblecote, Lye, Norton, Oldswinford, Pedmore, Wollaston, Wollescote, and Wordsley.

By chance passing with my son and saw the majestic cone furnace appearing along the road. This led to our free entry visit and free parking, to this council run amenity, museum and glass shop. Although small it had a quietly appealing facet. Unfortunately due to the recent storms entry to the only completely surging glass cone in the UK was not permitted. Apparently immediate safety check and work needs to be carried out. However we did visit the other parts of the small site. Especially Carl working in the glass shop, he was working on some engraving of glassware which in itself was worth the visit. The titanic glassware was interesting, ordered but because of a railway issue back in the day never made it to the maiden voyage and so remained forever since here. We shall be returning to the area this year when I hope to visit the cone itself.

Most recent visit was for the 2017 British Glass Biennale. There was a fantastic buzz about the place, and some amazing exhibits on show. I particularly respect the generosity of the individual artisans, both in their display of their crafts, and in sharing those skills with others. A lovely place, which always fills me with a positive spirit.

Cafe quite goood. Area around the lake looks rather bare after the removal of bushes etc. The children's play area and outdoor gym are quite good.

Surprise 50th Birthday party for Sister in law, The landlord Johnathan was very helpful on the day, easy going guy. Had their buffet Very nice, bar prices very reasonable, used DJ David Duke highly recommend. Thanks to all we had great night.

Me and my mum ordered a delivery from the Green Duck, we ordered 5 different cocktails to share between us. All securely packaged so no spillage in transit, and every one of them were divine! In the picture are the old fashioneds (one bottle split between two of us was plenty!), With the lovely cocktail umbrellas provided by the green duck. Overall ordering our drinks was easy to do, and value for money was excellent! If you are looking for high quality drinks delivered to your house this is the place, can't wait for you guys to reopen :)

The staff here are all very friendly and know their beers. Jo always has a couple of dark beers on. A varied selection of guest beers are available from up and down the country. You will always find a good pint in The Queens! Without question, Stourbridge's best real ale pub for variety.
