The Weavers Factory is a Grade-II listed contemporary art gallery in Saddleworth, Greater Manchester with three art galleries, a gift shop, a workshop, private walled garden and a tea-room for refreshments.
This really is a lovely gallery/event space. Nigel and Julian are a delight and most welcoming hosts. The array of events and exhibitions - something different every month to feast your eyes and feed your senses are truly beautiful. If you are in Saddleworth make sure you drop in and read all about Joan and the current artist exhibiting.

The weather has picked up,i hate walking in the rain,so after setting off from Chadderton,I'd decided on Tandle Hills. It takes me just over an hour of walking to get there, from Royton, Rochdale road looks so long, then you turn onto Tandle Hill road & that's another long walk,it may have been cold, but by now i've warmed up. Reaching the gates,my final goal was the monument up at the top, this looks out all across Oldham,Rochdale,Manchester & a far, especially on a good clear day.(this wasn't one) Then it's only one way & that's down,i took the steps, careful when wet, when you reach the bottom, still a few different ways to go. On this occasion while i was heading back,i had two deer run out in front of me,i never knew they were up there.. Making my way back, plenty of others walking & using the park. There is a cafe, with outdoor seating, but today it was closed, take your own it's probably cheaper.. Overall at this current time it's a place to let your problems & thoughts blow in the breeze.

When on a visit this Sunday. Very clean and the gardens and plants were nice. The glasshouse and observatory were being done up and will be lovely when finished. A boating lake with cafe was very busy and I noticed a lot of statues of local people in this park. Definitely worth a visit.

I had not been to this gallery for a number of years. it is free to enter and has free parking for 3 hours nearby at the weekend. On the ground floor is a car over 100 years old, made by a former Oldham firm, and a very old motorbike. On the second floor there were various paintings and works of art for sale which were all excellent. The permanent collection has a range of local paintings, some of industrial scenes and other Oldham scenes. A excellent Lowry picture of a whit walk. A great picture of Winston Churchill looking very young, Numerous other exhibits of local interest. There were some great modern art pictures and modern media. With a exhibition on the role of paper in society On the first saturday of the month between 1pm and 3pm they have a children's art session. My son loved my collages using paper and was free and great fun. Well worth a visit. A brilliant afternoon out.
