What a happy chance to find this wonderful little jewelry and gemstone store in Mirissa. Beautiful hand-crafted jewelry offered by an exceptionally genuine, friendly and knowledgeable family-run business. There's absolutely no hard sell here. Everything is about their passion, love and knowledge of Sri Lankan gems. We were really touched by their kindness and the way they took such care showing and explaining everything to us. We have three young girls who felt like princesses that day looking at all the treasures! Roosara Gems is the perfect place to explore Sri Lanka's famed sapphires and moonstones. Definitely recommended! :-)

This place is lovely for sunset watching; enjoy the sea breeze; under the coconut trees; and nice spot for instagramable photos. The place can be crowded but enough space for anyone find the right spot to relax, chit chat and enjoy the sea view. It is walkable from Mirissa Beach or the Parrot Rock Bridge along the coastal walk, approximately 30-40 mins. Those don’t want to walk can take Tuk-Tuk along Matara Road. We love the sunset here and it was just marvellous!!!

The beach is a bit of a mission to get to. We took a tuk tuk and had to walk the last couple of minutes as the road gets too rough. There are two main sections of the beach. The first one was wavy so we went around the corner and enjoyed the calm lagoon created from the rocky outcrop blocking the waves. The sand is coarse but the setting is spectacular and the calm natural pool was an awesome way to cool off. Worth visiting while you’re in Mirissa!
