Rampart walls of Portuguese fortress of Mazagan, today’s old city of El Jadida offers nice views of the city sites, like grand mosque, Portuguese cathedral of Assumption, views of the port, ocean views. One can make almost whole round of the city walls, accept of few parts. Corner towers are equipped with old bronze Portuguese canons. Entrance is from 2 places, in the beginning of the main street and from inside the city further up the main street. Gates are closed before sunset. First entrance is just behind the main gate to the city. Old city is very small, and you can easily spend here half day and move to north to Casablanca of south – Safi, Essaouira. There is a fantastic view of the old city with all its landmarks from the port pier, nice walk specially before sunset, very recommended.
