The Sugar Marsh Cottage is a must if in or passing by Darien! We had planned to stop by on our roadtrip and learned they were closed for labor day, but Dale, the owner, came in and opened for us anyway. She was the definition of Southern charm and hospitality. The house is beautiful and the shop is gorgeously decorated in a coastal beachy theme. The chocolates and salted caramel toffee was amazing! Dale gave us samples of almost everything. Definitely recommend!

Georgia Peach World

Traveling up to Hilton Head and decided to stop on a whim and so glad we did. Didn’t look like much from the outside but once you go in, your hooked. Very clean inside. Girls were super friendly and very accommodating. They have all kinds of samples out to try. Even some cool rides for the kiddos. We ended up getting the peach salsa (delicious) peach bread (so moist) peach ice cream (peachy and creamy, soft serve) and the peach smoothie (so good, I got one to go). What a hidden gem! Who knew! We stopped back by on way home. They have 3 locations. Very impressed.

Old Jail Art Center & Museum

I accompanied my friend, a Darien resident, to pick up some pottery that she built, glazed, and fired at the art center. This was my first visit. It was quick, so I browsed the gallery space and gift shop. I bought a piece of art by local artist Gene Threats which featured The Geechee Gullah Ring Shouters. All of his work is spectacular. I'm looking forward to another visit to see the rest of the building, the jail cells, and maybe take a class or two!
