Lingering over pain au chocolat in a sidewalk café, relaxing after a day of strolling along the Seine and marveling at icons like the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe… the perfect Paris experience combines leisure and liveliness with enough time to savor both an exquisite meal and exhibits at the Louvre. Awaken your spirit at Notre Dame, bargain hunt at the Marché aux Puces de Montreuil or for goodies at the Marché Biologique Raspail, then cap it all off with a risqué show at the Moulin Rouge.

Located near Les Halles, within Place Joachim-du-Bellay, which is a popular meeting place for the locals. Built in the 1500’s, it was a monumental fountain in its day, quite impressive even today.

Place du Chatelet is located in a convenient area. It is fairly close to the Louvre and other interesting sights. It is also close to the Seine River. A busy place with a lovely fountain with a column at the centre.

Fontaine du Palmier is a lovely monument in Place du Chatelet. This is a nice square and this monument is the centrepiece. It was constructed during Napoleon's time. Originally the aim was to provide drinking water to the locals, but it also had another purpose and that was to glorify Napoleon's victorious campaigns. It is a column with a female figure at the top signifying victory. At the base there are four other female figures representing Vigilance, Justice, Strength and Prudence, and at the bottom there are sculptures of the sphinx, a significant reminder of the Egyptian campaigns. Worth a stop and a quick look if you are passing by.
