Each year, horse enthusiasts hoof it to Louisville and Churchill Downs, the legendary home of the Kentucky Derby. In addition to equestrian endeavors and bluegrass roots, Louisville boasts a range of exciting attractions the whole family can enjoy. Stroll through Central Park, in the historic district, to people-watch and get a real feel for the city. Visit other nearby parks for hiking, biking and fossil finding. Baseball fans will love the Louisville Slugger Museum, a celebration of the sport's legends. The museum is easy to spot, just look for the humongous bat that leans against the building.

"The greatest two minutes in sports,” this thrilling horse race is a revered Kentucky tradition. Since 1875, Churchill Downs has been the hallowed site of this 1.25-mile competition on the first Saturday in May. The race is one of the crowning achievements in the fabled Triple Crown. However, thoroughbreds are not the only attraction, because fashionable outfits are everywhere you look, especially a brilliant display of theatrical hats. Mint juleps, the Derby's official drink made with local bourbon, fuel the fun-loving crowd of over 50,000.

We're back for 2020, with an all new drive-thru experience! More than 5000 artistically carved pumpkins illuminate beautiful Iroquois Park, nightly from October 1 - November 1.
Okay, the long wait in the car in line seems like it won't he worth it. We were in the car line for about an hour. Then when you finally reach the pumpkins, it is all worth the wait. So cool! They do a fantastic job. The pumpkin designs are amazing and the themed selections with music make this a wonderful experience! Kids loved it and so did us adults!
