Our group of six people joined Jean Marc and his lovely wife, Alice, for an incredible day of cooking, eating, and immersion into Provencal cuisine. They are the consummate hosts. And, Jean Marc is a gifted chef and, more importantly, gifted teacher. From coffee and cookies just out of the oven, to the tour of the local Farmers' Co-op, to the preparation of each course, to tips on spices, herbs, meal presentation, feasting (with wine pairings for each course), and conversation, this was a day that we will all remember. It was THE HIGHLIGHT of our two weeks in France!

I am Madeleine. I've spent over twenty years exploring the markets, wineries, and cuisine of Provence. I've hiked the hills, picked grapes and olives, foraged for wild asparagus and tasted exquisite wines. I would love to share my favorite corner of the world and my favorite artisan friends with you. Small group tours (6-8 guests max).
Since 1994, in its cooking school ‘Le Marmiton’, La Mirande has welcomed some of the most renowned chefs of Provence. Classes are held, in the authentic 19th century kitchen and are a practical ‘hands-on’ experience, limited to a maximum of 12 participants working around a huge wood-block table. The kitchen’s original wood stove is fired up three hours before the class begins. The authenticity of time spent in this special place where the heart of La Mirande beats will lead you to unique discoveries through smells, tastes, colours, lively and friendly exchanges of recipe tips and secrets. The classes allow all of those who share the same passion to live unforgettable moments. Aprons, kitchen utensils and recipes are supplied, and the classes end with a meal accompanied by wines chosen by our sommelier. Students may also invite one or more guests to join them for lunch or dinner.
