Set on a hill overlooking five counties, Rockingham Castle was built by William the Conqueror. The Castle was a royal residence for 450 years. In the 16th Century Henry VIII granted it to Edward Watson and for 450 years it has remained a family home. The pre-dominantly Tudor building, within Norman walls, has architecture, furniture and works of art from practically every century including, unusually, a remarkable collection of 20th century pictures. Twelve acres of formal and wild garden command splendid views over the surrounding countryside. The Castle is open to day visitors on Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays from Easter through to September and from June on Tuesdays as well. Groups are welcome on open days or by pre-arrangement for a private guided tour on weekdays. The beautifully appointed Castle Gift Shop is situated in the courtyard along with our licensed Walkers House Tearooms which serve lunches, cream teas and wonderful homemade cakes.
Brilliant day at this fantastic private castle . Luckily we went during a Viking 're enactment which was brilliant. It's a fantastic castle full of history and everywhere you look is a photo well worth a visit

Focusing on the health and wellbeing of our staff and customers remains our top priority. In line with national guidance and government recommendations we will close Harborough Museum effective from 5pm on Wednesday 4 November. Closing our museum, along with other heritage attractions across the nation, will mean tougher times ahead for those working in the tourism industry. We ask that you continue to support our attraction by rearranging your visit for later in the year or make use of our online catalogues and resources. We’re all in this together and will make sure our approach continues to reflect the latest government guidelines. Keep up to date by visiting: www.gov.uk/coronavirus and follow our social media channels to hear the latest from us.
We only had a short time to visit but what we saw made us want to go back again. The museum is packed with fascinating items from the iron Age to more recent times.

This is a lovely church located in the heart of the town. It is open to visitors everyday and lovely inside. The stained glass windows are particularly good especially with the light coming through shows up the beautiful coloured glass. It has a large spire that can be seen from a distance as you walk around. Definietly worth visiting.

Set at at the middle of the Famous Foxton Locks site, The Canal Museum uses fun and animated films to support its historic collection of artifacts and to tell the story of Foxton Locks and The inclined Plane Boat Lift. We have films, a unique 'boiler game' and several screens telling the story. Children love the Boiler Game and the play boat, but the children are often old enough to retire! Wheelchair access is good, but you may need assistance as the site is quite steep. Please call us if you want advice. We also have 2/3 temporary exhibitions a year, so there is always something different to see on your return visit! Group visits welcome. Visit our website for more information.
I visited here with family in July 2019 and found it such an interesting place. I'd visit again, the history of our canals is pretty amazing.
