Kingstown, the capital of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, is a major port city for the Caribbean island chain. The city features a series of surviving 19th century buildings, including St George's Cathedral, known for its beautiful stained glass, and the Romanesque Cathedral of the Assumption. In the wharf area, visitors can see structures built from the tile and red brick that was used as ballast on trading ships from Britain, or head up to Fort Charlotte for a stunning view of the city.

The Botanical Gardens are one of the most important and popular sites in St Vincent. They are the oldest botanical gardens in the Western Hemisphere (established in 1765) and are also an important conservation site (particularly for the St Vincent parrot). The Botanical Gardens are in Kingstown, a short journey from the town centre.
Not the biggest gardens in the world, but well worth a visit. Recommend the guided tour, our guide, Cornelius was excellent. Lots to see from all around the world.

The perfect finish to an island tour, with superb views back over Kingstown and the surrounding area, as well as our cruise ship. The fort has been pretty well maintained, and is free to enter.

This market area is extremely crowded on weekends as locals cart in fresh foods to sell.
This place is so fascinating. The produce is so fresh and because of St. Vincent's volcanic soil, it is so flavorful. There are so many herbs and spices being sold and the ladies selling them are happy to tell you how to use them. A must-see stop.
