Local Lore Museum and Art Gallery of Dilijan

The Local Lore Museum of Dilijan which was founded in 1950 by a teacher, Yeghishe Hovsepyan, provides a comprehensive view of the history of Tavush Region, the historical development of the local people, their way of life, material culture monuments, historical and geographical conditions. The two-floor art gallery displays a great number of artworks created by Armenian and foreign artists. Especially interesting for the visitors is the collection of social realism paintings and sculptures. At the initial stage, all the items were collected in the town library. The museum building was originally built in 1926 to serve as a hotel, and later as a hospital. After a repair in 1967, it has been developed into the Local Lore Museum and Art Gallery of Dilijan. The old building was then demolished and, with the financial support of the city of Dilijan, the new museum was built. The official opening of the museum took place in 2010 and since April 1, 2010, it is open to visitors.

Lake Parz

Reviewed By mikegO5244DL - Beirut, Lebanon

After driving for about 30 minutes through the fabulous forests of Dilijan, we reached Lake Parz with my wife and 2 children. It is a small lake, surrounded by trees with activities like rowing, a zip line across the lake and tree top challenges. We tried and enjoyed all of them. You can rent as small canoe for 2000 AMD (about 4$) and row all across the lake for 30 minutes. There are a lot of things to do, small snacks to feed you and amenities. We spent a few hours there and were sorry to leave. Our only consolation was the fact that we had to go back the same way we came - through the 'enchanted forest'.
