Along this road is the site where threatening polar bears are kept.
We were here for the bears. As we were looking for things to do while waiting for a flight we drove along this road. Pretty scenic last fall and white out wonderland picture in winter. We saw a bear huddling in a snow bank, our first bear.

Our visit to the fort was in the rain but of course you can't choose the weather. In spite of that we had a wonderful visit with the Governor (portrayed by a Parks representative) who gave us a fascinating history of the fort and the activities of the fur traders until the French took over. Since we started to get some lightening we cut the visit short, but I could have stayed and asked a lot more questions.

Permanent display case in main airport terminal with tourist information and northern art and gift items. This is the only Churchill shop where you will find *only* items designed & made in Churchill, and meet the craftsman/maker himself. Jewelry, linocut relief prints, and glass work, unique to Churchill. Extended hours and accessibility during 'bear season', all efforts are made to be open for all arriving & departing planes. Despite rumours to the contrary, there is no phone number. My work is very visual. I don’t do any business over the phone. Email me. Check out my new Shopify page. These pandemic times have forced me to temporarily close my airport shop, but I can do 'contactless delivery' to you if you are visiting Churchill, and can ship to you if you are not.

Itsanitak Museum is remarkable for its collection of Inuit artifacts including authentic skin on frame kayaks. Museum also has a number of wild animal specimens including musk ox, arctic fox and polar bear. Worth the time to take it all in without rushing.

We spent quite a bit of time in this place...attached to the Via Rail train Station....again, self guided...an excellent intro to life in the far north!
