Based on Alvie Estate near Aviemore we provide outdoor activities such as white water rafting, canyoning, zip trek and ski mountaineering, for families, individuals,Stag and Hen, corporate and military groups.

We deliver all forms of summer and winter mountaineering in the Cairngorms National Park. This includes guiding and skills courses for winter walking skills, ski touring/ backcountry skiing, mixed/winter/ice climbing, rock climbing, ridge scrambling and hill walking. We also offer canoe coaching and guiding. We are highly qualified and experienced guides who know the area well. We cater for all levels of abilities and aspirations, including individuals, families, stag & hen parties, university mountaineering clubs and hill walking clubs.

Active Outdoor Pursuits was founded in 1999 by it’s owners Roy & Sophia Gibson. They share a love of the outdoors, a passion for Scotland’s landscapes, history, culture and wild places but most of all, we love sharing this with others. For 20 years Active Outdoor Pursuits has had the pleasure of witnessing the fun, exhilaration, personal growth and challenge that so many people from every background experience when pursuing outdoor adventures. Open all year offering a wide variety of watersports onsite in the summer and skiing in the winter at nearby Cairngorm Mountain. Lessons many also be taken on our dry ski slope, onsite. Other activities such as archery, mountain biking and local walks are available all year round as are the children's activity play parks. The Boathouse Restaurant onsite is the perfect base to compliment activities, whether you are looking for a warm and cosy environment to have a cup of tea and spectate or requiring a warm, hearty, home-cooked meal to warm up after an activity.
