Our tourist farm Stanfel is situated at the beginning of Goriska Brda in a village called Podsabotin. We can offer you the best wines and excellent food and you will be able to relax in rooms with antique furniture.
We call ovners 4 days before we come, on phone they promised everything. But when we arrived, we experienced extreme inhospitability. They don't serve us food with the excuse that they don’t have time because they’re expecting a bus of people. The owners are very greedy for money, for a bottle of wine and one night they charged € 32, without the use of water, electricity and emptying the toilet.

I think if you are within an hours drive of Dam, this is the only place to stay. Service, style, warmth of the people, plus you get to eat at a michelin starred restaurant. Great base for exploring "Little Tuscany" and the surrounding area.

We reserved the accommodation because we wanted to do some wine testing in the area. After a couple of not very good experiences around Triglav Park, we found out this small but perfect hotel for our aim. Clean, luminous room with everything we needed, even air conditioning. The owner used to rule a restaurant in the same place and nowadays she just maintains the hotel. We also had breakfast in the terrace, only for 5€ per person with scrambled eggs, several coffees, fruits, nuts, toasts... I highly recommend it because it’s a good deal quality-price, 55€ for two people.

Overlooking one of the largest stone bridges in the world, Guest Accommodation Primula is located in Solkan, at the beginning of the Soca Valley, close to the Soca River. Featuring an on-site restaurant, it offers rooms with free Wi-Fi. All rooms are spacious and feature a TV. Each comprises a bathroom with shower and hairdryer. The historic Trieste-Vienna railway from Hapsburg period can be found in the vicinity. Saint Mary's Basilica in the Sveta Gora Sanctuary is 2 km away. The town of Nova Gorica and Italian Border can be reached within 3 km. The nearest grocery store, a bus and train stations are in Nova Gorica. A kayak centre can be found in Solkan, 3 km away, while paragliding is possible in Lijak 10 km away. Airport in Trieste Airport is at a distance of 25 km.
During the Tito times, it was necessary to manifest excellence of the communist regime. So this place was built - a funicular up to the monastery Sveta Gora on the hill above. A show off... Since those days Primula is primarily rebuilt to a very good restaurant (reviewed separately) but also have 10 or so guest rooms available. The rooms are simply furnished, but clean and with all you need for a night or two. There is even a small fridge and AC (working fine!) - a relief in hot days. The whole place has a good "quality feeling" in interior and furnishing. The location is simply stunning at the Solkan river! So much more of "valley beauty" is hard to find. And from the terrace on top of the restaurant (and from the restaurant itself) the views can be admired in at least 180 degrees. Two things you need to know: 1. You need a car. This "funicular station" is outside Nova Gorica. There's really nothing within walking distance. So the place is designed to stay at, once arrived, and then enjoy a good meal and good nights sleep. Ample parking space - no problem. 2. No breakfast available. The kitchen's prime task is to serve the restaurant, which closes at 11 pm. Available in the room is a coffee maker and two pre-packaged croissants. That's it. Now this isn't a problem if you don't need breakfast. But if you do, stop in town to shop something on your way out. And, since there is a fridge, you can store it overnight. We did just that and carried out or little self made breakfast tray to the terrace in the morning. Lovely. If you're looking for something apart from the ordinary ("boutique" hotels included) Primula is really something you should try. Very kind, informative and engaged staff. In the morning at check out we were greeted with "Good morning! Could I offer you an espresso". It was on the house and little approach details like that makes you happy - and willing to return... The price for one night double room was 59 EUR. Fiftynine...! An absolute bargain. If we return to this area again in the future, we will definitely stay at Primula. Highly recommended!
