Reviewed By Roger0150We were staying nearby in a private villa and tried this place for an evening meal as it was fairly handy. The restaurant is quite large and its design and layout has an almost canteen feel to it. The service was pleasant, if not the quickest we've experienced, but the food, whilst good portions, was very ordinary and more akin to its surroundings. Nevertheless we still enjoyed our evening amongst the locals and were glad we gave the place a try.

Excellent mid-range hotel
Reviewed By Richard CThe room was very good - large size, recently renovated. Excellent bathroom and hot powerful walk in shower. No a/c so gets hot in the summer. The hotel is 15 mins walk away from the beach. Ample parking. Pleasant garden area. Breakfast was extra - 5 Euros for a big pile of toast with tomatoes, OJ and coffee. Staff friendly and efficient. they also have a popular restaurant on site but we didn't eat there.

We are located in the Valminor (south of Pontevedra), surrounded by a magnificent set of mountains ideal for practicing sports such as trekking, mountain biking, enduro, trail-running, etc. Just a 2 Km's can find long white sandy beaches as Playa America, as well as the town of Baiona having tapas perfect to pan around the old town. The Manor House is surrounding by an estate of more than 20,000 m2, which together with privileged views of the Val Minor move our visitors to a magical setting for rest in contact with nature.

Reviewed By malinowynetFantastic retreat in a historic mansion. Pazo da Touza is beautifully renovated, with a lot of stylish details and great quality. You have access to a fantastic living room and vast garden. The staff is super friendly, with a lot of suggestions for attractions nearby. Breakfast is carefully prepared, with good quality food. There is a large parking - you have to drive to attractions in the neighbourhood. The hotel might get busy in the weekends due to wedding parties. Overall, fantastic place for some relaxing, quality holidays!

Relaxing and beautiful
Reviewed By lsexton2871Wow what a lovely place to stay. It's a mile from the beach but the accommodations are fabulous and the owners are wonderful. The rooms were amazing - I was in Cabernet. It was updated and modern - the bathroom and shower were great! Consuelo and her sister made us a plate of appetizers in the afternoon and the most wonderful dinner! It's updated, swanky, but super comfortable!!!! Highly recommend staying here.

Modern and comfortable.
Reviewed By ZANDVELDAlthough the hotel isn’t quite on the coast, getting to the beach would be 10 minutes driving and we got there, on foot, in 20/25 minutes time. The Val Convention seemed like a brand new hotel, with comfy medium-sized room, fabulously soft mattresses, and good storage space . We loved their cafeteria next door, with coffee made by an award-winning coffee barrister. (Also try the BROWNIES!) The breakfast buffet is simple ; continental with a good coffee machine. Wifi is free and strong. There are a few restaurants in the area plus a pharmacy, drugstore, general store, etc nearby. The town doesn’t have a lot of taxis but the business card of a taxi company to call can be found on the reception table.

This guest house offers a tapas bar and simple rooms with free Wi-Fi, a TV and a fan. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, it is just a 5-minute drive from Playa America Beach. Each bright room at Pensión Nigrán is decorated in light colours, with tiled floors and wooden furniture. Towels are provided in the private bathrooms, and rooms are cleaned daily.Pensión Nigrán has a quiet setting, just 800 metres from the centre of Nigrán. This small town has a range of restaurants, bars and shops.Free private parking is available at the Pensión Nigrán. The city of Vigo is 15 km away, while the border with Portugal is 23 km away.
Excellent budget stay.
Reviewed By emdoherty2002We reserved a room the day before our trip and were very pleased to get accomodation on the last weekend in July. We were advised that the only double bed they had left was in a tiny room and did we want to change to a larger twin room. They offered a discount on the the double room so we accepted as it was only for one night. The pension is about 1km from the main road running through Nigrán, it is an easy walking distance. The room was small as we had been warned, but it was comfortable and clean. There is a taparería on the ground floor of the pension and after trying a couple of bars in the town (and being unimpressed with both the tapas and the service) we decided to head back. We are so glad we did. We ordered a ración of calamares and zorza and can honestly say that they were the best calamares we have ever eaten after living in Spain for 10 years. The food was ample and very cheap and the waitress was attentive and smiley. We would stay there again. The situation was ideal for us, we just wanted to have a day at the beach without having a long drive back the same day.

Unreasonable business practices

Having made a mistake with the date of the booking, I attempted to call the accomodation numerous times and was unable to get through. As I had made a same day booking late one evening when I had intended to book the following day it was unlikely that they would have been able to sell the room to someone else as it is predominantly for hikers on the Portuguese route of the Camino de Santiago. With this in mind, alongside a number of attempts at contacting the hostel via the phone, conversations with booking.com customer service and a final e-mail explaining the situation and asking not to be charged they still decided to charge me in spite of the fact that we did not use the room. I am well aware that I made a mistake but their deliberate decision to ignore any attempts with which to resolve the situation and still charge me demonstrates poor character and bad business practices. I am very disappointed with the outcome and hope this review influences others to choose to stay in better managed accommodation. Dominic
