Service was impeccable. This is a traditional Japanese style hotel (Ryokan), and we stayed in a separate house with private onsen bath room, living room and bedroom, as well as a small terrace. The room was excellent. Meals were sent to your room by friendly staff. Food was fantastic.

We stayed at Aso Farmland in October for one night and would not recommend it to other travellers. The layout of the hotel domes feels like you are staying in some sort of dystopian suburb. The reception, parking and hotel rooms are all very far apart and require a lot of walking in a boring asphalt jungle to get between various locations. The room itself smelt damp and, while spacious, was just not very pleasant to stay in. Food at the buffet was poor compared to the standard in Japan. The onsen was decent and is the only reason we would give this place more than 1 star. The check in opens late and most of the farmland activities closed early the day we arrived. They also only give a 10% discount on activities to hotel guests. Seeing as this place was several hundred dollars (AUD) for a night this was definitely not worthwhile. Stay elsewhere.

Just had a delightful stay at Chikurakutei for a traditional Japanese experience. Beautiful gardens and each room has their own hot springs bath - Onsen. Floating there in hot hot water looking up at the snow drifting down......gorgeous! You dress for dinner in a kimono robe, toed socks and thongs - shuffle off to a private dining room for a delicious spread. Sushi for starters, pottery hot plate with wagu beef and vegetables, chicken & prawn hotspot and cognac crepe with strawberries for dessert. I would recommend staying here if you are in the Osa Volcano area

They have it at: the location, the view, the rooms... And it's a great success. The welcome is warm and sincere, and you can feel a true sense of excellence in service and care. The rooms are sensational : I booked a twin room with mountain view, which is basically a modern concrete bunker underground covered with grass (other rooms look more like wooden chalet). As for me, I was impressed by the quality of bed and linen, the smart and very pleasant layout, the total privacy even with windows wide open. Unmatched quality of sleep for a long while in a hotel. Total silence. The food is exceptional and plentiful, while, common areas are extremely pleasant and well arranged. The sense of details is pushed that far that painting on walls are changed every nights Personally, I loved the place and would recommend it to anyone visiting Aso, the price is fully justified

"Minawa" creates a mysterious atmosphere consisting of a fantastic kagura hall floating on the water and separate guest rooms connected by a corridor on a site of about 3,000 tsubo. A ryokan full of nature that provides a time of healing so that you can spend time relaxing with important people! All rooms are separated, and each room has a rock inside bath and an open-air bath, so you can take a bath whenever you want. In addition, floor heating is fully equipped, and you should be able to spend comfortably in cold winter. "Asozou" overlooking the Aso Mountain range from the guest rooms and the open-air bath, "Ogori" surrounded by deep greenery, "Tsurui" with three consecutive Japanese-style rooms, and more affordable prices Yes, there are four types of rooms available to suit your taste and budget. And most of all, the hotel boasts a restaurant in all rooms. You can eat while watching the Kagura Temple floating on the surface of the water. We will arrange a room according to the number of people, such as a medium room that can be used by 4 to 6 people, a small room for dugout that can be used by 2 to 3 people. There are also events such as Japanese drums and monkeys, so it will surely be a fun meal. Aigamo, which swims slowly in the pond under Kagura Temple and the restaurant, is also popular with families and couples. In addition to fresh ingredients from local Kumamoto and Aso such as red beef, yamame and horse sashimi, freshly cooked rice cooked in a pot with rice from Minami-Aso, and a salad bar using seasonal ingredients that change according to the season, We will prepare dishes that condensed the charm. In addition, we offer free rental of electric vehicles (reservation required), so you can enjoy sightseeing in Aso. "Minawa" where you can spend your time in a private room away from all rooms. Please make memories with your loved ones at this hotel. Highlight: private onsen in your own room, both indoor and outdoors. Outdoors has good view of the surrounding farms but the fence blocks the view once you soak. You get to pick your own yukata! Comfort: very spacious room, and extremely warm and cozy blankets!! Vibe: very rustic and picturesque. That said, amenities are a little old. it is an outdoor path between the dining area and rooms, which isn't the most convenient during colder days. Overall, I really enjoyed our stay!
