We did a one day tour from Axum to Wukro, stopping at the abuna yemata church.Haile was a great guide.he kept us informed about the region and the church.i must admit, scaling the rock wall with no safety equipment is not for everyone so make sure to get the full information before attempting this trip.we were supposed to do 3 churches but time simply ran out.so I recommend talking with Haile regarding time line for this excursion.i highly recommend taking this trip with sycamore Ethiopia tours. Haile was one.of the best guides we had in ethiopia.he was friendly and very informative.

Bubbling volcano light up the night sky sulphurous mounds of yellow contort in to other worldly shapes, and mirages of camels cross lakes of salt. Laying 100m and more below sea level , the Danakil Depression is about the hottest and most inhospitable place on Planet Earth. In fact it’s so surreal that it doesn’t feel like part of planet earth at all . If you want Genuine, raw adventure few corners of the globe can Mach this overwhelming wilderness. But come prepared because with temperatures frequently saying hello to 50 Degrees and appalling roads visiting this region is more an expedition than a tour.

We were lucky in travelling at a time with few tourists but had a fantastic time. The company was well organised and very honest. We had good information on the trip and what was expected. Our driver/guide was the perfect balance between giving us interesting information but at the same time allowing us to explore and ask questiions that interested us. The visits to traditional tribes were senstively done and visits were playful and fun. While we were in Addis the company took good care of us. Gasaw was very professional and attentive to our needs. He took us to a very traditional coffee shop which we woud never have found on our own . The traditional dinner dancing and singing was truely memoral.

Fantastic. I had a tour with Muluken (guide) 2.5 years ago, and this was great, just like last time. Muluken is a great guide, friendly, knowledgeable & he is the exact type of guide I look for on a tour. He is authentically friendly, not forced or fake. He gives information clearly, not just spitting it out fast / confusing. He wants you to learn about and appreciate his country. It was the highlight of our trip.

I highly recommend Finot. Haile can capably arrange the most popular tourist attractions and make suggestions for a 'deeper dive' into the country. Even more important, he is passionate about all aspects of Ethiopia--history, culture, wildlife, food.... and works to make sure customers have a great experience. I felt with Haile and driver Josep, i was in good hands at all times. Amazing country, keep an open mind, sense of adventure, sense of humour, and you will be rewarded.

I travelled to Ethiopia in December and I couldn’t recommend this company enough. There are many travel agents out in Ethiopia promising an immersive experience but I can truly say this company is the only one that did us a unique experience - access to true tribal life. Be careful not to fall privy to many companies who will drop you off in 4x4s for a 10 minute photo shoot.... the only way to fully experience this beautiful country is hiking to remote tribes that are not accessible by car. I wasn’t sure what to expect but all I can say is be open minded and enjoy every moment as you will be overwhelmed by their sense of community and the love they have for everyone and everything. It will get under your skin! In terms of what we did - We hiked along the Ethiopian landscape with local guides and donkeys. We ate with families at different settlements along our hike which gave us a much needed respite from the terrain. In the evenings we would watch sunset while our local guide and host family would prepare us local food and local wine before we would spend the evening getting to know the families. In terms of sleeping, we opted for the camping option which meant we would set up within the compound of the host family. For me, this was my favourite part - waking up to the sound of children playing and then unzipping my tent and being greeted by a goat! My main contact for the visit was a lady called Elizabeth who is native English but had moved over to Ethiopia some 10 years ago and she was a great guide and so knowledgeable. I cannot recommend this trip and company enough!!

My wife and I so enjoyed our tour of Northern Ethiopia with Ethio USA Tours in February 2019 that we invited two relatives and two very dear friends to accompany us on a return visit of sixteen days in January 2020 with the same agency. We slightly expanded our previous itinerary to include tours and overnights in Addis Ababa, Debre Markos, Bahir Dar, Gonder, Aksum, Mekele, Lalibela, and Desse. We worked closely with Ethio USA Tours to plan the follow-on tour. All aspects of the visit went flawlessly, thanks to our alert, capable driver Haile Mariam and our knowledgeable, helpful, and resourceful guide, Mulugeta Dubale. Our guide not only explained Ethiopian history, culture, and religion clearly and in context, but with enthusiasm and pride. Mulugeta also helped us with thoughtful suggestions to our numerous requests regarding food and drink choices, souvenir purchases, and how to benefit the most from using our free time effectively. Our overnight accommodations outside of Addis Ababa were all satisfactory or better. In Addis Ababa, we stayed in an excellent hotel (Nexus). Northern Ethiopia has high mountains, deep valleys, and fertile plateaus, and an interesting and ancient history and culture. The staff of Ethio USA Tours contributed significantly to helping us understand, appreciate, and enjoy the beauty and diversity of Northern Ethiopia.

Just in the end of a daunting 2020, we had an amazing tailor made tour with Daniel through the churches of Lalibela, the 2 clusters and Bete Yiorgis in the city and the further away older churches Bilbala Kirkos and Yemrehane Kristos (cave church). It was our second trip with Daniel and we wanted to focus on photographing priests. As a priest's son himself, Daniel knows all the priests of each church, all the nooks and crannies of the clusters and the best timings to see or avoid the mass and the crowds. Apart from the rock-hewn churches, expect a cultural trip as well to see and taste every Lalibela's secret. I have to say that Daniel is an excellent, experienced, flexible professional who understands his customers' needs and offers the most wholistic and inspiring experience.
