The present town of Castellammare di Stabia was once a favorite destination of the Roman patriciate, who chose this plateau overlooking the sea as an ideal place to have their own otium villa built. Even today, although little known, some of these beautiful dwellings, partly incorporated in the modern town, are preserved almost intact. We will visit the luxurious Villa San Marco, articulated on different levels and equipped with private baths where the owner could spend moments of leisure in the company of his guests. We will then proceed towards Villa Arianna with the adjacent Secondo Complesso, unique in its kind for the exceptional quality of the frescoes and its considerable size.

Take a 4,5hours private tour of the ruins of Pompeii and experience an authentic Roman food banquet tasting the typical dishes of the Ancient city like those Julius Caesar enjoyed in ancient Roman times. Learn about the lifestyle of the inhabitants of the ancient town seeing the Forum, the Baths, the Temples of Apollo, and of course the body casts. Continue with a lunch at Restaurant [or dinner if the option is available] - in a walking distance from the archeological site - to enjoy a 3 courses menu with traditional dishes of Ancient Rome . The food will be prepared by knowledgeable chefs and everything accompanied by the roman Mulsum wine spiced with honey, ginger and pepper. The Restaurant decorations ,like one of the Roman houses with the frescos on the walls, and its staff dressed in traditional attire (togas) as well as roman style furniture will allow you to go back in the time. At the end, transfer back with your private driver

Had such a great time in the Lemon and Olive groves and then tasting Limoncello and Olive oil. Claudia is such a great host. Then onto see Bernadetto the Cheese man watching him making mozzarella in front of your eyes and then eating it washed down with plenty of red wine. As if you hadn't seen and done enough you are then whisked away to Lucio's Pizzaria too make your own pizza which you you then wash down with even more red wine ! Absolutely fantastic experience. This was by far the best trip of our holiday I have been back twice now. I highly recommend this fantastic experience.
Stabiae is one of the four villages covered by the eruption of the Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD along with Pompeii Herculaneum and Oplontis. It is located near the modern Castellammare di Stabia, in an area known as Varano and approximately 4.5 km southwest of Pompeii. The site was declared an archaeological protected area in 1957, and by 1962 many of the ruins had been again uncovered. It is here that the Roman Pliny the Elder landed with a boat on the day of the eruption in order to rescue his friends living in town. The excavations returned two celebrated Roman villas, Villa San Marco and Villa Arianna, with frescoes, statues, sculptures, mosaics similar to those already found in Pompeii and Herculaneum.

We will explore the marvelous Roman Excavations of Oplontis and Stabia, unknown to most people and we are going to have a fun experience at a beautiful winery! The Roman Villas of Poppea and Villa San Marco are two ancient Roman dwellings where wealthy Romans could rest from the hustle and bustle of the Capital Rome. We will admire beautiful wall paintings, floor mosaics, and architecture. We will also visit the brand new little Archeological Museum of Stabia with some amazing finds from the excavations. We will stay away from the mainstream tourism. For the second part of the tour we will drive to the National Park of Mt Vesuvius for wine tasting in a beautiful setting. The Russo family will welcome us, we will visit the vineyards and we will sit for a simple but delicious lunch. It is going to be fun and relaxing! Do not miss an unforgettable half day. As a tour operator specialising in Italy myself, I will say that Fabrizio is one of the best guides I work with. Beyond knowing his material well, Fabrizio is very engaging and shows great skill in communication and presentation. He is definitely my first choice for guiding within the Campania region.
the peculiarity of this site is, among other things, the presence of the new city above the old city
