Cartagena, a gorgeous fishing village on Colombia's Caribbean coast, has excellent beaches, a historic old town (that's entirely walkable) and beautiful colonial architecture. It's also one of the safest places in the country, so it's no wonder it's a popular port of call for cruise ships. Need a break from exploring the cobblestone streets? Stop at an outdoor cafe for excellent pastries and people-watching.

It’s a great hotel, the service really makes up the outdated rooms (which are fine) to expensive, but a good hotel. Everything es clean, well taken care and a well organized and trained staff with you in mind. It’s at the outskirts of Cartagena, making it a 15 minute drive to the center of town but with the added virtue of a beautiful beech.

The Hotel ESTELAR Playa Manzanillo hotel's objective is to provide luxury, all-inclusive services on the seafront on the beautiful beaches of Manzanillo Bay. It is close to the cosmopolitan city of Cartagena de Indias. It has a contemporary design and a very calm ambience, and our guests' first impression is of an idyllic resort to relax and unwind in. Have a dip in the pool, stroll around the beautiful lush gardens or enjoy the 24-hour drink and snack service.
Very disappointing experience We visited with a group of friends who share our opinion that this is a place to avoid for various reasons. 1 The staff is not adequately trained, resulting in poor service, delays and mixups. In the reception the staff can be hostile. 2 the food is tasteless, poorly presented and boring. The breakfast is the only good meal, with a large variety of foodstuffs. 3 the bars (there are 2) are not comfortable, the drinks are not well prepared and during two days we could not have mojitos because they did not have the ingredients to prepare them. 4 finally, we were asked a deposit os $300.00 which we sent to the account provided, to secure our reservation. On arrival we were told that the deposit had not been received, but not to worry, they would sort it out before departure. On departure date the amount had not yet been found and we hd to pay the full amount of the invoice. The Central in Bogota, who received the money, did not transfer it to Manzanillo, so its up to us to sort it out. 5 In conclusion a low class establishment, with unprepared staff, bad quality food, poor service and a dishonest management. To avoid at all costs.

My mother in law , wife and I had the opportunity to go to this very famous hotel in Colombia. The plan was to stay for 4 nights. But we ended up staying only 1 They offered us a welcome Pina colada which was very tasty and refreshing. Also the waiters and the guys at reception were very attentive and helpful. When going into the room the first thing we notice is that the ac was not working properly. They changed the room for us and for my mother in law ( her room was having the same issue). We ordered some food for dinner and it was ok. After coming back to the room and going to sleep we notice the ac was not working as expected but since they changed the room for us and said they were working on it we decide to give it a go and go to sleep. During the night my wife woke up several times. Rooms are: old, they have thin walls. I could her the other rooms phone ring at night. The bathrooms have a very word design where they combine a shower and bathtub in the same place. And are too small. So I decided to go to the reception and they changed us into another room. In the morning we went to have breakfast at the buffet and it was average. My mother in laws room shower cap went off and it landed on her head. So during breakfast we decided to stay at another hotel and to be honest that was the smartest idea. At reception they offered to give us 2 suites but we rejected it and asked for a refund which they agreed. We got the help from rocio FloreZ to get the money refunded and she was super helpful, attentive and offered an amazing customer service. The only reason I'm not substracting a star is because of the amazing staff.

The hotel is a 4 star hotel , but the staff lacks 4 star service, only a few staff members speak any English, I understand that it’s a another county , but staff dealing with tourists should have some English speakers on staff , we where in the vip room which really did not give us any benefits, so if you are planning on staying here not worth the money for vip rooms , the rooms are small and other then front desk clerk which they call a butler not worth the money , the breakfast was ok there is no special area for vips , there are choices for breakfast but the staff can not handle the volume,

I did my internship here back in 1982 and 83, had such a good memories about the service so when we were planning to stay a night in CTG to rest from our flight from NYC I booked a room here, what a mistake. Rooms are small and run down, AC it's not cool enough for the local weather, plan included breakfast so I went downstairs around 7 AM and walked all over the line checking what they were offering, asked questions, make a cup of coffee and went back to my room to wake up my husband, all this without a mask. When we went back around 9 AM i started ordering what i wanted from the buffet line and was asked to wear a mask, I told them i didn't have one and asked if they had any, at that moment i think it was the cashier walked towards us in avery threatening manner about the mask, I repeated that i didn't have one, so we were told we had to leave. It was the most embarrassing situation ever. I recommend them to post a sign that express that masks are required to enter (I went before without one and nobody said anything to me) or like in most places in USA they have a box of mask right next to the entrance for the customer convenience. The whole situation was so ridiculous and left my husband who is a US citizen with the idea that we were about to be beat up just because the agressive attitude of the hotel employee. Also the towels are horrible rough, it feels like you are drying your sunburn body with sand paper! The general attitude of the hotel employees about your complaints is none, they don't show any concern about you not been happy with the hotel services, so I would never go back to that place, and just be aware, if you are expecting a 5 starts hotel service, its not gonna happen, maybe you would get the of a 2.5 or 3 stars maybe.

I was in cartagena in December last year, where I shared with my family and stayed at the Hotel "Dorado Plaza", there were very nice and friendly people in the hotel, there were also service people who looked after us well and provided us with everything we needed, the hotel was perfect, the food, activities, and all the moments inside the hotel were very good for me and my whole family. The beach was very close to the hotel where there was a beautiful view of the sea, the beach was all very nice, the people there felt they were having a good time and enjoyed it as well as my family and I, there was a lot of service from the people there, selling food, food, snacks, and drinks, everything could be found on the beach in cartagena, there were also jet skis and we mounted them, we went very far on them and had a great time. We tried new things. We also visited the murmallada city of cartagena, where we had a good meal in a good restaurant which I don't remember the name now, we also enjoyed a rich ice cream and passed through the streets. We then took a ride in a car which was pulled by a horse, and this gave us a tour and gave us lots of interesting facts about the city. We then toured the streets and enjoyed the local art, people doing acts and crafts. The experience was very enjoyable for everyone.

Additionally, an intense night awaits with many emotions with music, shows and an exquisite gastronomical offer that you may enjoy at our hotel or booking a romantic evening at our Café de la Plaza de San Pedro restaurant, located in the best area of the walled city. Due to Coronavirus (COVID-19), this property is taking steps to help protect the safety of guests and staff. Certain services and amenities may be reduced or unavailable as a result.
The staff was very friendly, but few spoke English. Rooms were clean, but the air conditioner unit was old and not up to the job. The pool area was nice. The beach is not part of the hotel. The food was not anything to write home about. The main complaint about the hotel is all the stairs. To go to the main dining room you had to go up a flight of stairs to the bar, and down another flight to the dining room. To the pool required going up two flights of stairs. Both from the lobby. So if you have mobility problems, this is an issue. You also have to make a reservation for every meal.
