The sapphire waters of Cephalonia are steeped with history. The large Greek island was home to Odysseus, the legendary king hailed in Homer’s The Odyssey. Fortunately, it won’t take you ten years to get there. Explore the enchanting caverns of the Drogarati caves, sail to Ithaca on a glass-bottomed boat or marvel at the ancient artifacts inside the Archaeological Museum of Argostoli, Cephalonia’s main town. Or just hide from it all at one of the island’s many private beach coves.

Gentilini is a small, boutique, family run winery that produces top quality, exciting and unique wines while promoting the unique flavours and aromas of the local Kefalonian varieties. We are open every year from Easter to October for tours and tastings in the relaxed, natural setting of our garden. Our aim is to focus on your enjoyment, and we want you to leave us feeling that you have experienced something very special. Our friendly, knowledgeable staff, who speak excellent English will welcome and guide you through the wines, answering any questions you may have. All our tastings include a complimentary plate with our own organic extra virgin olive oil, local cheese, grape tomatoes and fresh bread. We also offer light snacks for those who wish to linger further over a glass of wine, and bottles may be purchased in our shop.

Sarris Winery is located in the south-west part of Kefalonia, very close to Avithos beach in the area of Svoronata, 10 km from the island’s capital, Argostoli and close to the island’s Airport. The area has picturesque villages like Svoronata, Kaligata and Kourkoumelata, where you can find traditional houses with fragrant, inlaid gardens, olive and orange groves; a very peaceful place! Sarris Winery is open to all oenophiles and anyone wishing to get to know the world of natural wine and viticulture. We are waiting for you at the bistrot of the winery to relax with our white wines, flirting with our rosy creations and exploring our complex red labels, while enjoying our spectacular view.
We had a wonderful tour from Panos, the owner at Sarris Winery. He walked us through the different stages of the wine making and about each of the wines he bottles. We sat and enjoyed the incredible views, delicious cheeses and some of the best Greek we’ve tasted with our friends and went home with the Rosé. Yamas! Highly recommend a visit and tour!

Our winery continues a centure long family tradition in Thiramona, a small village in the southern hills of Kefalonia island, where viticulture can be traced back to Ulysses times. Driven by our passion and love for traditional winemaking we promote the unique and precious grape varieties of the island and produce high quality wines in a limited number of bottles. Our main philosophy is organic-biodynamic farming and the least possible interference in winemaking.

We are proud to be able to handle some of the noblest Greek grape varieties. We aim to produce wines that reflect the uniqueness of the Robola and the other local varieties. We are quite happy to watch over the wines during their formative stage and intervene only when necessary.
My family visited this winery in mid September 2020. The trip to the area is worthwhile in itself, since the journey through the countryside is beautiful. Just as beautiful is the location; the winery courtyard is on a slight incline affording a panorama of the valley and picture perfect view of the Saint Gerasimos monastery, as seen in the above photograph. We tasted several wines, which were refreshing in the hot weather, crisp and clear with a sometimes spicy, sometimes floral, aroma. Although not cheap, we all thought that the wines and experience were value for money. Vangelis, who served us and explained everything, was an excellent host; attentive but not intrusive. We bought some bottles to take away with us. All in all, an excellent few hours of journey and visit to this lovely co-operative - we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Ευχαριστώ Βαγγέλης και Robola. Diolch.
