I had an excellent tour with Nikita. He met me in the lobby of my hotel and the tour began as soon as we left. Nikita is very knowledgeable and was able to give me the history of various buildings and neighborhoods as we walked around Moscow. He also gave me insights on life in present day Russia. The wonderful food started at a market where we tried Russian cheese and crepes. We then walked to a monastery and had pastry and tea. We stopped along the way so Nikita could tell me about the history of a building or place. The final stop involved delicious Siberian dumplings. My three-hour tour flew by. It was the perfect combination of food, history, and culture. It was also just the right amount of food for me. We finished at 6:00 pm and I didn’t need dinner that evening. Nikita followed-up afterwards with recommendations for shopping and restaurants during my remaining time in Moscow. I highly recommend this tour.

We booked a Kremlin 3-hr private group guided tour from Tripadvisor (conducted by Fat Cat Tours). Horrible nightmare! We were assigned an inexperienced guide. She explained things while walking along which meant not everyone in our group can hear her. Her pace was slow, spent a long time conveying very few snippets as she constantly stopped to find her words. At the entrance, there was a bad jostle to get through security checks as there were many tour groups that day, instead of leading the way, our guide was behind us & we were confused where to head. Within 15 minutes of our arrival inside the Kremlin, our guide was stopped by a security officer & taken away for questioning. We finished the tour on our own as she was no longer allowed to return. Without a guide, and now being unable to get out to rent audioguides, our day was spoilt as we were not making any sense of anything we see inside the cathedrals, a wasted trip. You can imagine our dismay - we feel like we didn’t visit the Kremlin at all.  It was our last day in Moscow. We should not be made to pay (RUB12,000 including tickets) for a service we didn’t receive. We insisted for a full refund but have yet to hear back.

A very positive experience. I felt very reassured with all of the information received and the handling of the visa which was particularly easy via Go Russia in Germany. No glitches with the pick ups and no delays with the guides. First trip to Russia and I was impressed, so much so that I would book with Go Russia again when I eventually travel back and see more of the country. Julia from Go Russia was extremely competent and helpful.
