Beautiful valley for hiking. Bonus is seeing the back neck cranes that roost here in the winter. Stayed at a farm house in Mole and highly recommend this experience. Enjoy day hikes in the region and relax with a hot stone bath.

The monastery was recently renovated when we went and looked wonderful. However, the main attraction for us was attending the Black-Necked Crane Festival celebrating the annual migration of the very important bird to the Phobjikha region. The colors, sounds and dance were memorizing. Outside, you could walk along and see all the local families enjoying the celebratory markets and activities marking the special day. Highly recommend it for the serious traveler.

A very majestic Dzong/fortress temple complex. We were there in May 2010. Flowers were in full bloom and the grounds were stunningly beautiful. Highly recommend 3 hours to walk the grounds and visit the shrines. The setting is idyllic like something out of a storybook.

This is a govt setup information centre for the black necked cranes. They show a very informative documentary about the migratory black necked cranes and the various steps Bhutan govt and people are taking to preserve the species. We can see the cranes through binoculars places in the information centre.
