Used mostly as a court house in the past.
Very small but beautiful town with medieval castle and few churches is a real gem of Istria.
The castle was founded as fortress in the 13th century. After some destructions and reconstructions, it took its present appearance in 16th century.
The main square of the town has Renaissance appearance - there are Church of Annunciation and houses of few centuries old around it. There is also stone cistern in the middle of the square.
There are almost no tourists, the town is quiet and peaceful.
Svetvincenat is a perfect place to feel and enjoy the real spirit of old times !!!!

The village of Svetvinčenat and its square “Placa” and the castle Morosini-Grimani, one of the best-preserved examples of Venetian architecture in Istria.
Many festivals are to be seen over the year keeping the village alive, unfortunately we missed them all, but you are able to visit the castle when open.
Good restaurant in the village.

Srednjovjekovni tematski park ''Sanc. Michael'' Medieval Theme Park ''Sanc.Michael'' Mittelaltterliche freizeitpark ''Sanc. Michael''
We visited the Park for two times and would surely recommend it for families with young children for the very nice new built castle with a lot of stuff like armors, swords and catapults and also for the nice "safari park" with a lot of domestic animals (goats, sheep, rabbits, pigeons, chicken...), horses and Sergio the donkey - the children will love it!
There is also a big yard with archery and a real size labirynth, and also a small souvenir shop at the entrance/exit of the castle.
The hosts are verv very kind, the food is excellent, and the prices are affordable.
This is a very nice and entertaining place to spend a family afternoon/evening.

Every Wednesday the Grimani castle, located in Svetvincenat (the very heart of Istria), is hosting medieval nights filled with various and interesting events. During the medieval nights you can experience jousts, night battles, and fireshows including Inquisition and burning of witches. Take a day to cruise around the tucked away villages of Istria and do not miss a little stop in here to take in the relaxed Mediterranean squares and the old cistern and castle. I didn't go inside, but it was so charming that a little stroll around the church square and the neighboring castle square and soccer field was all I needed to catch the air of this snoozy little village.

Stands at the beginning of the square with wrought iron above. Standing at the well you have a lovely view of the square.
