Welcome to the Birthplace of HISTORIC Route 66! In 1987, Angel Delgadillo, the kindly crusader, led the charge to save the Main Street of America; Route 66. The Historic Route 66 Association of Arizona was formed to protect, promote, and preserve the Mother Road. The grassroots association and Angel's charisma have captured the world's attention. Today there are Route 66 associations worldwide.Angel and Vilma opened the very first Route 66 gift shop in 1987. The once pool hall and barber shop is now a unique blend of gift shop, barber shop, visitor center, and museum. The museum is dedicated to all the people who have made the pilgrimage to Historic Route 66 from all over the United States and the world. Your road trip is not complete until you experience living history at this Route 66 landmark!
We found this place on TripAdvisor and decided to stretch our legs on the drive so we stopped in. If you are looking for a gift shop I would not consider this the best one in town but it does have a lot of interesting memorabilia about Route 66 which makes it different from the rest. If you're in Seligman you may as well stop in to check it out.

My review is based on the drive from Williams Arizona, jumping on the Historic Route 66 for a few miles Ash Fork - Crookton - Seligman.
Seligman is kind of like being in the Movie Cars, main street is full of souvenirs shops, restaurants and that's pretty much it.
It's close to the Grand Canyon but I would definately recommend staying somewhere else, not much to do beside buying a few souvenirs and getting a quick meal.
Be sure to see the movie Cars before visiting, also great for driving a few miles on the Historic Route 66 and jumping back on Highway 40.
Wouldn't go out of my way to visit but I would stop if it's on the way.

They have an opportunity but the cars are all rusting out and need restored... The stuff offered in the stores are nice memorabilia... It is like they started but no body is keeping it up... It is a shame..

Seligman is off Interstate I-40 on Historic Route 66. We took the side trip off the interstate via Seligman, Yampai, Nelson, Peach Springs, Truxton, Crozier, Valentine, Hackberry, Hualapai to Kingman Az on our way to Las Vegas.
Seligman is one of those classic old West towns and as part of this is The Rusty Bolt Gift Shop.
The mock up with several mannequins is fetching, if not a little quirky. I found the proprietors a little on the unfriendly side, but wandering around these Gift Shops was interesting. There are several old cars and other exhibits around The Rusty Bolt.
If you are doing Route 66, why not stop off and sample the atmosphere yourselves?

Loved all the displays here. This is a great spot to stop for a picture or two. This place has been around a long time. Know this is a tourist trap type of place, but it really kicks up the nostalgia. If you don't want to shop, at least stop for a walk around the building to check out some neat relics.

Not your average gift shop! We carry a wide variety of unique gifts, collectables, jewelry, signs, clothing and more! Vintage and antique items, authentic road and railway signs, hand crafted items, and Route 66 memorabilia are just a few of the things you'll find here! And don't forget to sign our wall before you go!

Affectionately dubbed the "Mother Road," this 2,400-mile route was the first all-weather, continuously paved highway linking Chicago and Los Angeles. The storied path is legendary for spawning America's signature roadside architecture and attractions, vestiges of which remain today.
We decided to hit the ground running and arranged a trip up the Willis Tower followed by a meal at Acanto which was a lovely Italian recommended at the hotel. We also booked an Architectural boat ride for the next day. This was really good. The James hotel stood out as the best hotel of our trip.
Following the schedule, we stared on the driving bit and spent a leisurely day driving to Springfield stopping at places on the way Another nice Italian meal at Saputos was followed by a walk around the Classic cars which were there for the Convention. The next morning, we retraced our Route 66 to catch some bits we had missed and explored Springfield in the afternoon.
We made fairly swift progress to St Louis. Fortunately, the unrest that we had heard about was not too serious although it was quite close to our hotel. We really enjoyed the Trip up the Gateway Arch but the Mississippi cruise was probably our biggest disappointment of the trip. We were also disappointed to find that Union Station is being converted into an Aquarium but we did look round the hotel. We enjoyed a trip to Basilica of St Louis, a spectacular cathedral made of glass gold and marble. We had a nice evening meal in the Irish pub whist doing a pub quiz and keeping our eye on the riot police. We largely enjoyed the hotel and the City.
We then set off for another Springfield where we had booked the Best Western Plus Coach house. We stopped at various Route 66 landmarks and enjoyed the Fantastic Caverns. Another lovely meal in another Italian restaurant called Avanzare.
Moved on to Tulsa with a few stops and went through Kansas and ended up staying at a Hilton Doubletree. We then set off for Oklahoma City and stopped in Bristow, and at an interesting Interpretive Centre in Chandler. We ended up staying in Hilton Garden Inn in Bricktown We had an excellent meal in Mickey Mantles. The next day in Oklahoma City was really interesting as we visited the Cowboy museum and the National Memorial Park and museum commemorating the bombing which was superbly done We had both lunch and dinner in Jazmo’s and did a little boat ride on the canal in between. We really enjoyed our 2 nights in Oklahoma City.
Travelling again as we hit the road for Amarillo we tried couple of museums but as it was a Sunday they were not open, moved into Texas and made for Palo Duro Park State Canyon which was impressive. Went to the Hilton garden Inn in Amarillo and had an excellent steak at the Big Texan steakhouse. We were picked up in a lovely limo and taken home. A great night with music by a group who may well have included Tony Christies dad!
Traveling again to Santa Fe with stops at the Cadillac Ranch and Adrian. Also had a lovely stop in Tucumcari. Drove to Pecos and spent some time in the Park. Stayed in a Hilton Doubletree for 3 nights. We had an interesting walk round Santa Fe centre. We had a bit of a rest and a nice dinner in Vanessies. We spent the next day visiting Taos and took in the Rio Grande Bridge and Nambe waterfalls. On our last morning we had a lovely breakfast in the French bakery and creperie. Santa Fe was a lovely town. Moved on to Albuquerque via the Turquoise trail. Got tickets for the balloon fiesta and did a trip up Sandia cable car. Unfortunately, this was our only bad weather day! Went for dinner to Scalo’s – an excellent Italian. The next morning, we did another bit of Route 66 including the Petroglyph Monument and Boca Negra Canyon. In the evening we did Route 66 in town by night and dined again at Scalo’s.
The next morning, we really enjoyed the balloon festival despite the 4am start. Visited Gallup and spent a lovely couple of hours in the Petrified Forest Park and Painted desert. A fabulous day all round ending up at the Best Western in Holbrook and a trip to Mesa Italian where we spent an interesting half hour chatting to a Navajo Indian and an apache/Italian.
Traveling again to Winslow a real icon of Route 66 and a lovely breakfast at La Posada hotel. Had a look round town and set off for the Grand Canyon South Rim. Spent a few hors touring the spectacular Canyon and went to Tusayan and watched a really interesting film about it. Stayed in the fabulous looking Grand Hotel. We ate there and were served by Mrs Overall and a grumpy waiter! Shame the food did not match the look of the hotel and it was not cheap!
Anther travelling day visiting Flagstaff and Williams ended up in the hills at Oatman which was really lovely and the donkeys were great. Arrived at our hotel in Haversu City where we had a wonderful dinner at Manos Italian. The unexpected bonus was London Bridge which we visited the next morning before driving on to Barstow via Needles and Amboy. A bit of shopping was followed by dinner at the Idle Spurs where we had a lovely steak but a common problem is that Americans eat far too early and we were out of the restaurant far too early
Our final day of travelling included driving Route 66 through Barstow, the Bottle Tree ranch and Miltar Café before driving on to Santa Monica Pier and lunch at Bubba Gump’s. We then drove to Tilt Hotel near Universal City and spent a really nice evening in A Simple Bar.
The next day we had a great day at Universal Studios before checking in at Loews in the evening. We spent our last 3 days around the area and did a bit of shopping and lazing around. The hotel is really nice and well located but service was very slow. Loved the people but they need more of them. Had a couple of lovely meals at the nearby Lobster and Fritto Misto.
On our final day we went to Long Beach and a snack at Parkers Lighthouse overlooking the Queen Mary. We had found that restaurant 17 years earlier. We managed to check in online and arrived home in time to watch Spurs play at Real Madrid. A perfect end to a wonderful trip.
