First, the facts: There is a paved parking lot. You must have a Michigan Recreation Passport to park. There are decent vault toilets located at the parking area. There is a wide paved sidewalk that leads right down to the falls. There are large stone steps that take you from the sidewalk into the water. There are picnic tables and grassy areas for picnics near the falls. - I don’t know if tubes are allowed. There were a lot of people there on the Thursday we stopped by. Kids had crossed the river and walked along the stone wall to get to the top of the falls and were jumping into the falls. I assume this is allowed and safe as there were a lot of kids doing this. I would imagine it’s be a great place to visit in the winter!

Though smaller and not as impressive as the new (1870) Presque Isle lighthouse, this 1840 lighthouse is still very much worth a visit. It is nicely and informatively restored and presents a good complement to the 1870 lighthouse and a more complete picture of the area's lighthouse history.
