We have seen this place from the water by boat, but never drove by car. Nice camping area with a playground, boat dock, restrooms, and parking. Excellent place to fire up the grill on a winter or summer’s day! Lake Cumberland is truly one of the cleanest, well preserved, untainted lakes still available for worldwide travelers! It’s like being on a island.

I am local to the area and have been for 19 years. However, I had never made the trip to Mill Springs until a couple of weeks ago. My friend was in town from South Georgia and she wanted to do a little sightseeing and get to know the area. After stopping in at Haneys, we decided to take a look around here. We were there in the early afternoon on a Sunday and were the only ones there. We had the museum to ourselves and it was amazing! I am not a history person at all but I was very intrigued with this set up. All of the displays are great and have a lot of detail put into them. I am a visual person so I enjoyed actually seeing the displays. If you like to read, there is also plenty to read about. After the museum we watched a 15 minute video. It was a little too long for our taste but full of good information. The guy working told us about the 10 historic stops we could make. We decided to give it a try. The stops are spread across town and it takes a little bit to stop at each one. For me, it wasn’t ideal but my friend loved it. So if you are a big history buff, I recommend allowing time for this. You can see where a lot of historic events happened and buildings were. I would highly recommend this excursion! Very impressed!

I am local to the area but had never actually visited Haneys. Many of my friends often visit and I had always wanted to try. My friend came in from Georgia and so we took the afternoon to come to Nancy! Since we didn’t come in prime apple season, we didn’t pick apples but hopefully next time. They have a nice store with many cool and unique food items and more. The snack shop had a variety of sweets such as cookies, apple pie, cinnamon rolls, caramel apples, and many more delicious treats. My friend and I both chose a caramel apple. Only complaint is that the caramel stuck to the plastic so bad and we weren’t apple to get a good photo with the treat. Haneys was adorable and we will be back! Can’t wait to see it when it’s fall!

The Mill Springs National Cemetery is a “must see” if you are in the area. The grounds appear to be very well kept. You can drive by and look or park and get out to look around.
