The McCormick Arts Council at the Keturah (MACK) operates from the Historic Keturah Hotel and serves the extended community of McCormick, South Carolina. We first opened its doors to provide quality programming to the public in 1985. The MACK's mission is to provide art, culture, and education to the region. The purpose of the MACK is to stimulate and encourage participation in various cultural opportunities promoted throughout the year. These activities include exhibits, educational programs, events, and performances. The MACK is a critical historic and cultural establishment for community identity and tourism. There is a nice gift shop with items that are unique. They have different artists featured every month so there is always something new to see. They have wonderful kids camps in the summer that are very well priced, I think $5 a day

Awesome skeet shooting experience for some novice skeet shooters! The park rangers working with us Kaelyn (sp?) and Katie were patient with us and the pointers they gave us helped us hit a clay pigeon every now and then! The cost per person is reasonable considering they provide the shotguns, 25 shells per person, the clay pigeons, eye and hearing protection and instruction too! I am so glad they asked if we preferred 20 gauge or 12 gauge as the 20 gauge was nice and the 12 gauge would have been tough. I recommend shooting 20 gauge unless you are an experienced shotgun shooter as it does not kick near as much. We stayed at the lodge so we could keep our dog with us. You have to keep your dog on a leash while in the park and you can't leave your dog alone in the room but that is not a hardship since we are used to our dog going with us or someone taking the dog for a walk while we are doing various things. The lodge rooms are nice and clean. don't leave the balcony door open or you will have bugs in your room - we had to clear out some daddy longlegs (only 4 of them) and after that, we were good. I love the adirondack double chairs on the porch. We got breakfast at the restaurant right next to the office each morning and got our coffee there also. It was reasonably priced, good and you just have to pick it up to go right now. We were disappointed the archery range was closed while we were there. I think it was because of staff shortages, but we borrowed horse shoes and played some horse shoes, although it was a challenge to find the horse shoe pits, which are near the basketball court on the side away from the parking lot there. We looked up how to keep score with our phones and modified the rules slightly and then went at it. The Beaver run trail was a good 2.5 miles one way and we returned the same way for a challenging hike only because of the 5 mile distance. The trail is fairly level the entire way with just a few insignificant changes in elevation every now and then. Our last night we went to a local brewery just across the lake in Georgia (about 15 minutes away) and had a great time with live music! We planned to canoe, play golf and hike the other two trails but will have to come back for all of that. I love the way our state parks in South Carolina are making it possible to take our dog with us! This is a game changer for us as we will visit with the entire family much more often over the coming years.
