The Château Smith Haut Lafitte, Grand Cru Classé de Graves, is both one of the oldest Bordeaux wine properties and one the most pioneering in its approach to the terroir, the quality of its wines and in its insatiable efforts to meet the connoisseurs' satisfaction. For 25 years now, Florence and Daniel Cathiard have inspired SHL a momentum toward nature called "Bio Precision". The quality of the red and white first and second wines grows constantly in the eyes of the national and international critics and the grand vin enthusiast witness it every day as the doors of the underground cellar, the new 100 % gravity operated vat room, the renovated cooperage and the positive energy Stealth Cellar are open all year long, upon appointment.
We visited Château Smith Haut Lafitte for a wine tour with our family (three adult couples) and absolutely loved every moment! We booked the “Road to Paradise” tour with Lise as our guide. The tour took nearly two hours and involved an extensive tour of the estate, their barrel making process, and the cellars. We ended with a tasting of three incredible wines in a beautiful tasting room. Lise was very knowledgeable, friendly, and entertaining with impeccable English! Our family left raving about the tour and what an incredible value it was for all we did and the wonderful wine we tasted. It was one of, if not the, favorite things we did in our 10 day trip to France. Thank you, Smith Haut Lafitte and Lise!

Beautifully gracing the main courtyard, The tower gave its name to Château LaTour-Martillac. It is the last remain of a small fortified castle built in the XII Century. The Kressmann family owns the property since 1930. The famous "gold and sand wide diagonal stripes" label, created 80 years ago, is still used nowadays. Our white and red wines have been recognized as Grand Cru Classé in 1953.
