Nice clean park on the water. Friendly campers. Sites available for all types of camping. Trees provided good shade. Beach was sandy but wave rough.

A peek through the window made us wish we had arrived earlier while it was open. The schoolhouse is on the grounds of the Sturgeon Point Lighthouse

The lighthouse was closed when we went, but we were still able to park nearby, walk up to it, and take pictures. The lighthouse itself is weathered and I think the that adds a lot of character. It truly looked like it was out of another time. We also ventured onto the beach to look for petoskey stones and fossils. Of course it is located on a point, and the point where the tides meet in the lake was hypnotizing to me. I couldn’t stop watching it! My picture doesn’t do it justice. No wonder this point had so many shipwrecks back in the day.

Sturgeon Point State Park is off the beaten path, but really worth a visit. Not only is the lighthouse impressive, there is also an old wooden boat and an old school house. ????️????
