My husband and I love to see churches ano cathedrals when on vacation. We have been to Paris and other large cities of the world. We missed the last guided tour; however, we were directed to the church by a wonderful sister. From the time we opened the door, I was completely awestruck with the beauty of the windows and statues. This is a must see! Will come back with family. The sisters were very informative and answered all questions.

We have been to Saint Meinrad Archabbey before when we spent a night and enjoyed the atmosphere of this place. This time we were in the area and decided to visit again. There is some construction going on but that does not stop one from going into the church and thanking the good Lord for all are blessings.

St. Benedict's Brew Works is located near the gift shop on the campus of the Sisters of St. Benedict Monastery on the hill in Ferdinand. The brew masters make small batches, so the variety of beers is ever changing. IPAs, browns, darks, Kolschs, and others are available. I like the several that I have tasted. They serve pretzels made by the sisters at their bakery and other simple bar food; they have a big screen tv to watch the big game. They also sell glasses with their nifty "Pray, Work, Brew" logo.
The Brew Works is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Check their website or Facebook page for hours.
And a visit to the beautiful historic convent and church is well worth the trip to Ferdinand.

Steckler Grassfed is a certified organic farm that specializes in dairy and the art of making fine cheeses from raw, grass fed milk and cultures that are meticulously aged to preserve nutrients and wholesome flavors. Also available are other grass fed products such as pork, lamb, beef, and free-ranged poultry products. The, easy to access, farm store is open Tues, Fri, and Sat. appointment.
The first time we served their cheese was at our Derby Party. Everyone enjoyed them a lot. Most asked where we got it from and we told them from Stecklers Grassfed in Dale, In everyone asked for the directions. Real easy to find.

We visited the Monkey Hollow Winery on a sunny September day. The grounds are beautiful and the wine tasting experience was a good one. We purchased three bottles for home and highly recommend a visit to those in the area.

We came to the monastery to visit because of its magnificent beauty and peaceful nature. We found the Abby gift store and spent more time and money than we ever planned to spend. It is a tremendous find. They have every item found in their catalogue on display and available. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. There are products made by the local monks and other religious in the region. Each is unique and impressive. Heck, you can even pick out your casket in the Archabbey’s side shop. They too are all hand made by the monks of Saint Meinrad.
