The 7 Best Things to do in Bang Ramat, Thailand

May 22, 2021 Enedina Augsburger

Golden palaces, floating markets, majestic porcelain-laid spires…you've never seen a capital city quite like Bangkok. Visit Pratunam or Siam Square for premium shopping, then unwind in the European-style gardens of Dusit. Thon Buri is home to the awesome Wat Arun temple, and over in Phra Nakhon, you’ll find the Wat Pho temple of the Reclining Buddha. Savor mango sticky rice at a food stall before taking in the gilded splendor of the Grand Palace.

Khlong Lat Mayom Floating Market

We visited this floating market from Bangkok on a Saturday. The drive took about 20 minutes using the Grab app (210 - 300 baht one way). The best thing about Grab is that the driver knows exactly where you want to go. We did a 40-minute boat tour on a traditional longtail, 100 baht. Very nice scenery, plants and houses along the water. A few boats selling food. The best thing about this market for us was the actual (dry) market, which was humongous! Few tourists in the deeper layers of the market (just walk along the canal/pier and you’ll get there quickly), lots and lots of wonderful food! Enjoyed the karaoke of Thai people during a fish pedicure. Very very happy we went to this market. Enjoy!

Khlong Lad Mayom

I haven't been to the other floating markets so don't know what it's like elsewhere. Many locals, which is a good sign. Many food options. I explored one small part and then decided to leave before i realize there are other parts to explore! The boat ride is BHT100 per person for foreigners, and includes 2 stops (stops at another small market and an orchid farm), the whole trip was about 1.5 hours long.
