Romsey Signal Box

Romsey Signal Box is a building from around 1865 and a working museum which gives an insight into the life of a railway signalman and railway signalling in general. Visitors of all ages can get a hands on experience by operating points, clearing signals and ringing bells to control a simulation of trains passing through Romsey. As well as the main attraction, the site has a visitor center containing artifacts and photographs and a cafe serving drinks and light refreshments. Disabled access is possible and although the operating floor is step access only we have installed a CCTV link to allow anyone to view the inside of the signal box from the ground floor visitor center.

This is a fascinating place run by friendly, knowledgeable staff. The demos in the signal box itself were truly enlightening and I felt I properly understood our railway history from these. Well worth a visit, I’d say.

Just wandering around Romsey and found the park, there was a lovely statue of a horse and rider telling the story of Romseys link to the horses sent to the front in the first world war, very informative. The park was in lovely condition, well maintained and a pleasant place to stroll or relax.

I have to say this was the best day out we have ever had! My little boy is obsessed with peppa and he had the most amazing day, his little face from start to finish was a picture! A very happy family we are today! The park was immaculately clean, staff friendly, queue times were reasonable, all rides accommodated all ages, everything was colourful and looked so magical I could go on! If I could give one critique it would be that we found the food inside peppa world quite limiting and would of liked things like chips and other hot things but it really wasn’t a problem. The muddy puddle area was our absolute favourite, we had gorgeous weather so my little boy was in his element running around in his nappy with other babies splashing in the water. The park area and penguin area is also fab!! Best gift shop ever too! All in all a great day out!

Booked online to take our kids to the pool at half term. The booking system ensured that the pool was not too busy and we had good fun on the slide and in the rapids. The changing areas were good and the Covid procedures seemed sensible. All I’m a good visit

Frankies Fun Factory, Romsey

I've visited Frankies on several occasions and I do think that the success of your visit is dependant on when you go. We went on a wet bank holiday Monday and as expected found the place to be absolutely rammed! That said my son (and his father) had a great time and managed to burn off some energy. We have also been on a midweek morning and more or less had the place to ourselves. The play area itself is huge and has a good variety. It appears clean and in a good condition - certainly better than some we have seen! Although there is a separate area for under 4's, my little boy who is almost 2 was able to play in the main section providing he was accompanied. As with all these places some of the older children can be a bit boisterous but most are considerate of the younger kids and we didn't encounter any issues. The car parking is quite limited and most people seem to park in the road outside or further along the industrial estate. There is however double yellow lines in some areas so you need to be careful!
