Calling all chocolate lovers! Kahi Ola Mau Farm is the home of Honoka'a Chocolate Co. Reserve a spot for a tour of our farm and a tasting of select chocolates from around the world (including Hawai'i) that we make on-site (no store bought chocolate here!), allowing you to experience how a particular region's climate, soil and terrain affect the flavors of the chocolate, "the terroir" as winemakers so famously say. The state of Hawai'i is the only place in the U.S. where cacao is commercially grown. We'll share the history and chocolate-making process from the tree to bean to bar. Besides the 500+ cacao trees you'll see on our 5-acre farm, we also grow nearly forty varieties of tropical fruit, including white pineapple plants, as well as native Hawaiian sugar cane, vanilla orchids, and more! We'll taste whatever is in season. If you're looking for a unique foodie experience, this is a must! Please note, the combined 2-hour tour and tasting are by reservation only.
Mike is a great tour guide - it was an intellectual tour of the history of the farm and he has passion for all things chocolate! This tour is probably best for young adults and adults but was very enjoyable!

Ride with us as we journey into Waipi'o Valley, one of the most beloved and revered places in all Hawai'i. Be amazed by the majestic scenery and beauty of the valley as our sure footed horses take you over lush jungle trails, under flowering canopies and through curving streams. You will be captivated by cascading waterfalls, 3,000 foot shear cliffs, farmlands and wild horses. Sample rare fruit from our family farm and see Hawai'i's staple food crop, Kalo, grown in the valley since ancient times. We embark on this 3 hour tour twice daily Monday -Saturday at 9:30 am and 1:30 pm. Participants meet at WOH Ranch located on Highway 240 after mile marker 7. From there we shuttle guests down into the valley to our stables where riders will receive a safety demonstration. Once in the saddle, the trek takes a leisurely pace allowing riders to appreciate an unforgettable perspective of Waipi'o's beauty. Our local guides share the legends, history and plants of this rich cultural landscape.
This was a great trip - the valley is lush and peaceful, the horses are well trained the guides are very knowledgeable and friendly. Our guides were from the valley so had plenty of experience and stories to share. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a fun getaway regardless of riding experience.

We drove down the 25 - 45 degree grade slope down the mountain to get to the valley's beach! Exciting drive, but you can also walk down the path as well. Youtube has videos if you want to get an idea of what the drive is like beforehand. There is a 800 foot waterfall that is a nice drive by for photos and very friendly wild horses who will walk right up to your car looking for a treat! Walked the beach and even crossed the river that flows out to the ocean. A nice 2 hour visit to enjoy the beach and scenery!
