This winery was our third stop of the day while visiting the area. They were very busy, but we decided to stay and try their 6 wines that they were pouring. We started with the Viognier, which was very pleasant. The rose and the reds were all nice wines. We truly enjoyed their Lakawa Malbec and bought us a couple of bottles. One of them, they opened for us, and we enjoyed it with a couple of their goat cheese selections from a local producer, that they offer for sale. Very nice winery to visit.

Sonoita Vineyards is the oldest running commercial vineyard and winery in the state of Arizona. Founded in 1974 by Dr. Gordon Dutt, from University of Arizona, the winery has stayed in the family since then. Situated in the rolling hills in the Sonoita-Elgin area of Southern Arizona the Winery has produced many award winning wines from southeastern Arizona grapes. The winemaker is currently Lori Dutt Reynolds, Dr. Dutt’s granddaughter, and her husband Robi is the current Vineyard Manager. Between the two of them they have four children they’re raising in and amongst the vines.
We had a wonderful time at this family vineyard. Comfortable outdoor seating on a beautiful day. The winemaker was informative and friendly. Variety of wines that were very nice.

Rancho Rossa Vineyards is one of the largest family owned wineries in the Sonoita/Elgin area. We produce about 1100 cases of wine each year from our 24 acres of estate fruit. We are the only winery in the Sonoita Viticultural area that is 100% estate. Meaning we use ONLY the grapes we grow. We specialize in ultra-premium dry varietal wines.
We visit the Elgin/Sonoita wineries every year to stock up on good local wines and support our local producers. Somehow in all these years we have never visited Rancho Rossa until yesterday. It was a Friday so the weekend hordes from Tucson had not descended on the area. And Rancho Rossa proved to be a real delight. A set back a wee bit from the road but worth taking the time to visit. First the owner and host Breanna was just such a nice, knowledgeable person. The tasting room was decorated in a rock and roll theme with concert posters that were right out of my youth fifty years ago. Behind the bar is a gorgeous salt water aquarium that is mesmerizing. AND the wines were delicious. We ended up taking home several bottles of the reds. My personal favorite was the "Hard Days Night". It will go so well with a perfectly cooked steak this weekend. Rancho Rossa will be a must stop on any future wine circuit.

One of our two favorite Wineries in the Elgin / Sonoita area of Southern Arizona. They only produce Italian Red wines and do a great job at it. I don’t have a favorite, I love them all. A small estate winery that has perfected their productions. In addition they are now growing Olives in their groves for Olive Oils. A must stop on your wine tasting tour of this region.

Flying Leap's Elgin facility is a working winery and distillery. Our wines express the unique terroir of our vineyards and are showpieces of the craft, skills and patience of our winemakers. We have spacious, beautifully-manicured gardens and patios for picnicking, as well as two comfortable, accommodating & air-conditioned interior tasting rooms. Our property is pet-friendly, and the entire venue is handicapped-accessible with two paved handicapped parking spaces. Our staff is knowledgeable, friendly and welcoming.
This is a MUST STOP when in Elgin Arizona if you are a lover of wines and / or spirits. The history of these three friends getting together to produce wines is wonderful, and explains their Logo. We are never disappointed with their blends or full body wines. Their attention to detail has helped them grow but they still have full control over what we get to enjoy in the glass. A perfect location for a Wedding !

I gave an excellent rating because the server was knowledgeable and very nice. The wines were really good and we really enjoyed our flight tasting. I bought few bottles. We were surprised by the condition of the yard patrons used for tasting. It really was like a junkyard. Miscellaneous stuff everywhere. So much potential just wasted. If the yard was cleaned up, some casual tables and chairs placed and speaks placed for music, it would be fabulous. This is the second oldest vineyard in the state. It could be a gem with some effort.
