This beautiful lake is off the beaten track, and well worth a visit for a picnic, being surrounded by lovely native bush it has a restful serene feel about it. The public toilets were very clean.

The walk through the bush and also in the two bridges in Hokitika Gorge is absolutely stunning and breathtaking.. the walk is super easy and the new bridge is just a spectacular to walk in the middle of the valley.. a must do for any visiting around.

Very cool to see...go at dusk or better yet at night. Don't bother taking photos with your cell/mobile phone as it just adds more light that is not needed. Nature is so cool!!! Note, this doesn't take very long...30 minutes and your done. We stayed at the Holiday Park across the street so we just walked over after watching sunset on the beach and then shared some wine in our camper...an awesome evening!

We live the beach, it’s easy to go to, eventhough we didnt see the beautiful sunset.. Black sand, clean and the Hokitika sign made of driftwoods is a must see including the shipwreck..

An exhilarating treetop adventure among temperate rainforest giants. Experience life with the birds, high in the ancient Rimu and Kamahi tree canopy. Easy access for all to enjoy along a steel platform 20 metres high and over 450 metres long. Come and enjoy a leisurely 45 minute to one hour stroll through the beautiful West Coast rainforest tree tops. Relax and enjoy a coffee and lunch in our Cafe / Restaurant after your walk. Restaurant open Thursday & Friday nights until 8pm bookings essential.
A short drive from Hokitika is the Treetops walk. Plenty of parking space. A walk to the cafe, shop and paying point where you receive an information brochure and then a walk along a path to enter the structure that takes you high above most of the trees. Great views. Amazing structure. More information available on the walkway. Interesting and enjoyable.
