Relaxing and pristine Kauai (the Garden Island) is the least commercially developed of the Hawaiian islands. Waterfalls, scenic drives and more than 60 beaches dot the landscape. Some beaches have great snorkeling, others offer child-friendly tidal pools and some are perfect for all kinds of water sports. Dry-land activities include hiking the Kalalau Trail on the Na Pali coastline, taking a day trip to Waimea Canyon and experiencing life on a sugar plantation at Grove Farm Homestead Museum.

GALERIE 103 seeks to bring together a broad cross-section of national and international artists and features significant works of high-quality art, including contemporary and modern art that reflects the island's unique environment past and present. The art at GALERIE 103 knows no boundaries, thereby challenging misconceptions about regionalism and ethnic origin. With the importance of global environmental issues, Hawai`i has become (as it should be) one of the centers of conceptual awareness and critical debate, especially about global environmental issues, but also about many other matters shaping human destiny. ART and ISSUES should and do meet here. GALERIE 103 thus seeks to expand general awareness and to correct any lingering idea that Hawaiian art is "merely" focused on the celebration of natural beauty.

Located in Waioli, this two-story restored house was built in 1837.
Hanalei's iconic green church is one of the town's favorite landmarks. What many people miss is the Waioli Mission House hidden in a grove behind the church. The Mission House was the parsonage for the church and it provides a very fascinating look back into the daily lives of the early missionaries. Guided tours are available on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 9AM to 3PM. The day I was there, a nice gentleman gave a very thorough tour of the house. He was knowledgeable about all things Mission House and it appeared he had much more information he could offer if he only had more time. For me, a history buff, this has been one of my favorite tours on the island.

This 80-acre site was originally a sugar plantation where you can see the original family homestead, the worker's quarters and many fine gardens. Visits are by reservation only, please contact us for arrangements.
After visiting Kauai for many years, we heard about Grove Farm last week and promptly called to setup a tour. Tours are for very limited numbers of people so book ahead. Loved the tour of the old Sugar Cane farm. Fascinating view of the family business, farming and life on Kauai in those days. The beautiful family house and other farm buildings have been beautifully maintained and the tour guide has wonderful knowledge. We also toured the original kitchen and received delicious cookies and mint tea freshly made there for us. A wonderful tour not to miss

This is a small museum that highlights the local history. It's run by volunteers, so be patient, they're very nice people and this place gets flooded by visitors, particularly after 11:00am. If you want to hike Waimea Canyon, this is the best place to find out everything you need to know about the trails. If the parking lots are full on the way into the canyon, I would highly recommend pressing on to visit this museum. If nothing else, get a t-shirt to prove you made it to the top of the canyon!
