The 7 best Specialty lodgings in Cadiz, Spain

April 26, 2023 Velvet Mowry

The past runs deep in Cadiz, where cobbled medieval streets spill out into whitewashed Spanish plazas and Roman ruins. As one of Europe’s oldest cities, it has the feel of an urban island, marked almost entirely by beaches and ultramarine harbors dotted with fishing boats.

Hotel Casa de las Cuatro Torres

I could live here!

We had a wonderful time at the Casa de las Cuatro Torres (“House of the Four Towers”)! The hotel is nearly 300 years old. The winding tower stairs take you from the guest room areas, through a lounge room to a private dining room and finally to the rooftop and lookout tower where you have amazing views of this historic city and the Atlantic Ocean. Our corner “apartment” had a living/dining room overlooking a square with restaurants, great for people watching, but not so busy as to be too noisy at night. From the bedroom window we looked down the street at the ocean. It was dreamy! We had all the modern comforts in this historic building: a complete bathroom with great water pressure, powerful air conditioning, reliable Wi-Fi and plenty of outlets. The kitchenette was modest but we didn’t cook there anyway - it was certainly sufficient for drinks and snacks. The breakfast buffet was well worth the 15 Euro price, with quality ingredients, variety and great service. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Lourdes, in particular, was patient, speaking slowly and letting me practice my not-yet-great Spanish skills. Everything was perfect! We highly recommend a stay here!

Plaza Mina Suites

Perfect location, easy access and spotless.

Lovely, well equipped, fabulous, comfortable beds & bedding. Centrally located. We parked our car in the San Antonio plaza, 100m away for around 15E per day. We didn't use the terrace as there was no sun shelter at all, sadly. I'd booked here thinking there would be somewhere to siesta on beds with shade, maybe I misread the marketing, but that is only for certain apartments with semi private terraces. The roof has great views.. Short walk to the beach with decked, shaded areas and free facilities. Spotlessly maintained apartments. Would highly recommend ?

Great Location and So Friendly.

I spent the last three nights of September 2021 here. The location is excellent, next to one of the main plazas in Cadiz. The view from my small balcony overlooking the plaza and was so pleasant to sit there especially in the evening. My room was small but comfortable, with a few shared bathrooms. But during my stay here l don't think l saw anybody else, therefore l had them to myself. I would like to thank the girl on reception who made my stay so welcoming and pleasant, she gave me a few tips of what to see in Cadiz. I tried to extend my stay here in but it was fully booked up as it was a Saturday.

Great location but needs improvement from management!

Convienent location with plenty of food options (and the museum of Cadiz is quite nice). Rooms have been updated. Family and I had two rooms. One of the rooms had a terrible sewer gas smell (room 103 on the first floor). They moved us rooms...and then we saw one cockroach in the bathroom of that room. The windows do not do a great job of blocking the street noise on the first floor...making it hard to sleep. Also breakfast was very very basic. Wouldn't stay here again.

Comfortable, Value Priced Pension

I stayed 3 nights @Apodaca Rooms and throughly the property. Excellent location, great value and an easy check in procedure. Clean, comfortable, small private rooms recently updated. Each floor features two shared toilet/shower facilities - exceptionally clean & well maintained. The property is in the old quarter of Cadiz, yet easy to find as I walked from the railway station in under 15 minutes. This is a 'pension-style' property with limited on-site staff, yet the owner was very helpful with a small bike repair, too. There are lots of well-appointed common areas with tables & chairs. Highly recommend - especially if you understand this style of accommodation.
