The Singapore cityscape looks like it was ripped from the pages of a science fiction comic book. If you’re hungry for a true Singapore experience, sample the myriad street foods or take a cultural cooking class. The Botanic Gardens and the Gardens By the Bay offer a slice of horticultural heaven, and the observation deck of the Sands SkyPark makes you feel like you’re high above the clouds. The banks and walkways along the Singapore River bustle with local activity.

We decided to visit the Chinese Heritage Centre during our recent visit to Singapore. Our entry fee included an audio visual guide that was really useful for providing context throughout the tour. The centre has taken great effort to provide a realistic view of the way in which many Chinese people lived in the typical housing seen through Chinatown. From the tailor shop on the first floor to the tenanted cubicles rented out on the second floor it shined a light in the hardships of day to day living in Chinatown as relatively recently as the 1950s. The Heritage Centre is close to the Chinatown MRT and is air conditioned.

What makes Farmart so appealing is the fact that it’s set on a lush location where visitors can surround themselves with animal and plant life.
