The Tropics restaurant opened in 1950 by Vince Schwenoha. The site included a large, signature neon sign that quickly became the symbol of the restaurant and a Route 66 landmark. Postville Courthouse State Historic site

A replica of the 1800s Postville Courthouse where Abraham Lincoln once practiced law while in the 8th Judicial Court Circuit. This beautiful two story attraction offers a nice guided tour of the building and the grounds which also offers a medicinal garden of that era as well.

In almost every instance on Route 66, the people you meet are just like the two gentlemen we met on our most recent visit to the Postville Courthouse. Okay, so this is a replica of the original courthouse where Abraham Lincoln practiced law. After 175 years what wooden structure would not need major repairs, so this replica is no different than if the real thing had entirely new materials. You need to spend at least an hour looking at everything and watching the 11-minute video. It is a must stop on Route 66 for any history buff or admirer of Lincoln.
